    Switcheroo

This year why not switch the dates for Father's Day and Mother's Day? this will give you the "jump" on summer and still have time to buy flowers for her. Dad needs his marine accessories sooner not later such as 1: A [new] tach 2:Waterpump impeller 3: Battery (he didn't get one at C'mas because...

1999 75HP Force/Mercury Odd Lower Unit Oil Residue

Fuel shouldn't run into LU [if it did water would too]; but you should fix it to avoid a possible fire!

    Stand-alone tilt/trim pump

Did you use a torque wrench to tighten the 4 bolts equally [115in./lbs; or 9.5 ft./lbs]? The manual also suggests using Liquid neoprene (rubber) around the edges to seal them.

The manual lists different sizes and I assume they have to be exact sizes

    1989 xr4 150 that sat 3 years issues.

Ha I assume that those wires are resistor core whereas the OEM are solid core, this could be a major reason.

    1989 xr4 150 that sat 3 years issues.

2 things that would bother me if it were my motor 1: Scotchlock connectors on 3 wires - they're not the best for marine applications, (had a car that died one time because the power to the ignition was SLocked) even soldering would be better. 2: The angled throttle cable - could be adjusted to...

Before you tear it apart here are the bleeding instructions for the rams (some of them have a 3/16" Allen screw) I would do this first:

1995 Mercury 40hp 4cyl - sputters and eventually dies at idle under load

Time to check the fuel system; sometimes I tilt the motor all the way up then pump the line bulb fuel should run out of the carbs then tilt it down and see if will start.

1975 Mercury 650 blue band - Abandoned, but brought back home

The pin is hard to push with your fingers so bolting it up will push it in, did you lube the DS and shiftshaft splines? This is how I do it in about 60 sec.: Turn the LU shift shaft by hand counter-clockwise until it stops, then with Vise Grips tight on the bottom of the shaft turn it a few more...

Mercury classic fifty 45 hp (1986-1989). Please help if possible-not running correctly

It's just that freewheeling could throw rods etc. - also don't shift into reverse unless the motor is running or someone turns the prop until it stops. The low speed adjustments should should be made in the water in forward gear @ 1,300 rpm; set the needles 1 1/4 turns out to start.

Mercury classic fifty 45 hp (1986-1989). Please help if possible-not running correctly

I don't know what your problem is but revving it up in Neutral is gonna cause you real trouble!

    Lubrication

You don't have to do all of these steps just whatever you need. I use anti-corrosion grease and synthetic multi-purpose.

    1971 7.5 Mercury Impeller Stuck

Put anti-corrosion grease on the shaft where the impeller sits and also on the top splines of the driveshaft and the propeller shaft.

    Shocks

I haven't worked on that many motors but I haven't encountered any broken ones, I don't understand why so many people lead-off with that possibility when it's usually fuel supply/carbs! I added the breaking part as a goof.

1975 Mercury 650 blue band - Abandoned, but brought back home

Does your driveshaft have a pin on the top? this is spring loaded and it will be holding the units apart , assemble the units together in neutral. and check the reverse locks make sure they're not binding on the tilt pin.
