    Contact the seller of the rebuilt unit.-----And what went wrong with your old engine ???----Did you determine the cause of the issue ??----Carburetor float bowls checked for warpage ?----Is the high speed jet in place on each carburetor bowl ??

    ????----The decals make it an 86 model here.-----But could be newer than what motor actually is.-------And it sure is a trim / tilt unit !!----Motor appears to have had a cosmetic touch-up with paint.----Do yourself a favor and post actual compression values.----If good then install a new water...

    Well---Sold a unit like that this fall.--The unit is NOT off an older model.-------The unit in the pictures is definitely power trim / tilt.-----Motor looks the be a 1986 model.----Parts list is found on the accessories pages for 1980 to 1988 models.

    Coils will be cracked on the 4 hp.----New ones are cheaper today than 50 years ago.-----Condensers will need to be replaced.----Points can be cleaned.----Will need a new water pump impeller.

    No " granny shifting " is allowed as that is bad for the clutch dog and lugs on the gears.

    A spinning shaft likes to stay where it is.-----So a big wave rolls the boat.----Crankshaft wants to stay where it is.-----Hard on bearings.-----Spin a bicycle wheel and then try to change position of the axle.-----And a roller bearing is definitely a " clearance " bearing.

    Agreed----four strokes run very nicely, quiet , cheap on fuel.-----But regular maintenance at $125/ hr adds up.----Major breakdown often spell----" buy a new one "------Big waves are hard on 4 strokes.

    In order to help we need to know why it needs to come apart.----Ot either corrosion or damage where those tabs lock it in place.----Or was it full of water ??----Hit something ?-------Any welding done on this gearcase?
