Alpha Gen II Oil Supply Line Cracked and Leaking

Are you referring to the oil line that runs from the gimbal housing to the bell housing or the through gimbal fitting that either hose attaches to?

vapor separator tank removal and upgrade

Finding fuel in the gear oil case for the pump arm/cam lobe happens way more often than not. This is not an indication of failure by any means. If you're having runnability issues and have narrowed it down to low fuel pressure/supply to the vst then maybe the pump is weak/faulty. The water pump...

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

There's no official procedure. It shouldn't take long for the mechanical pump to prime the system even when completely dry if everything in the system is sound. Burning up a starter means you had a weak starter, there's an issue with your fuel supply system or possibly both Priming your...

Priming fuel system for new engine first start.

Not recommended, no inboard engine has a primer bulb anywhere in the fuel system. No reason to add one, it'll just cause a restriction that will cause other issues. You need to troubleshoot the entire system from tank to carburetor, adding a primer bulb is masking the real issue If you add...

Shift cable fine tuning vs. interrupt switch adjustment

It's possible, and bending the arm slightly so the roller is closer to the v notch is the adjustment you'll need. It's also possible the lower shift cable is worn/stretched but if you're getting full fwd and rev engagement and just experiencing inconsistent shift interrupt issues going into...

4.3 Alpha One - Gimball bearing issue

    1. Based on how much bellows adhesive is around the o ring its possible there was a water leak. You need to clean all the old adhesive off the seat and when installing new use only a couple dabs of adhesive to hold the o ring in place. The o ring in the seat provides the seal, not adhesive...

Water leaking from block but pressure tested fine?

Just? Did head gaskets? First pic is of the block/head seam, correct? Looks like an awful lot of rust and other material there. Unless you didn't clean anything before the gasket/head install? Really appears to be fresh water leak witness/rust below the head, plus a crack in the block above...

Mercruiser Alpha One Gen I Winterization

You ought to be able to reach block plugs and manifold hoses from the front of the engine. It's just a 4.3, stuff isn't that far back

    Mercruiser 470 Starter

No 470 uses a ford starter. Factory came with a divorced solenoid. There are newer style ford starters that have the solenoid mounted on them but fitment can be an issue with these

    Carburetor Issues, Dripping Carbs...

Every time I rebuild a Rochester I squirt a bit of power tune on the needle. After installing crank and run, set never had an issue with leaking. This is of course with idle air mix properly set. Initial idle air mix is roughly 2-3 turns out, the bigger the engine themore turns out to prevent...

    Carburetor Issues, Dripping Carbs...

Naturally aspirated gassers look good at 17 hg/in for idle vacuum. With smooth drop at load increase. This indicates a sound engine, under the manifold I owned one 351W that had 18" at idle. The Motorcraft 2bbl couldn't keep up with the throttle punch tho. Kinda disappointing but hearty as well

    Axius Joystick Question . . .

Yeah, love, love.....don't even know if love is a big enough word for it. But, 454 = one of the greatest v8s ever produced. And you had the best version I phone for iboat, can't see signatures. 6.2 sbc is a great powerplant as well. We cannot discount mercs 8.2 either. In front of bravos they...

    Carburetor Issues, Dripping Carbs...

Yummy But, seriously. Sierra has many wonderful and solid, trustworthy parts. Some do suffer from outside vendors. Caveat emptor as such.... With any carburetor rebuild/replacement a set up, checking timing, and full load/rpm test is in order

    Axius Joystick Question . . .

Yes, I like the 330. Have driven both merc and Volvo equipped. Nice boat, good ride with amenities for all Not sure your your boat brand these days but sticking with merc is a good plan. Brunswick runs deep and has fantastic support from most angles. I still see points, mc1, fords, 50's...

    Axius Joystick Question . . .

Based on experience, yes we would venture to say it's a fouled clutch. However the line from the drive goes: clutch, yoke, shaft, linkage, lower cable, shift plate, actuator, wires, ccm, controller.....could be one or more of those components You still boat with formula?

    Axius Joystick Question . . .

Does the shift actuator engage immediately with full throw or is there a delay? The servo for shift is quite solid, I have seen zero failures however the software/controls do have issues from time to time As I stated, g3 is most necessary for proper troubleshooting of dts/joystick motor and...
