    Run with a timing light 1 cylinder at a time.------Observe the light.

    It clearly sounds like an ignition issue to me.-----Could be a bad plug or bad plug wire.

    The pulse limiter fitting is a ----" flow fuse "----for the VRO housings.------Keeps the pump from becoming a small bomb should there be high airflow / pressure spike from the crankcase.

    Run fuel out of the carburetors before putting boat on the trailer.----No spillage.-----And empty carburetors stay clean.

    The screen is all you need.-----Thousands of motors running fine with just that screen / filter in the pump inlet cover.

    Are there ----" commercial "--- models that use a different gearcase.------Those often have a W in the model number.-----Did you look at the 1985 model year ?

    A 1953 model , or 73 , 83 . 97 or 2004 model ?----Does spark jump a gap of 5/16" or more on all leads ?-----Post the actual compression test values.

    My new “old” Larson bowrider

    ???----To me it looks the bulkhead was cut out.-----Left over fiberglass tabbing is clearly visible.-----It was not repaired the be the same ( or better ) than when it left the factory.

    Test run with another tank and hose.-------Bulb does NOT need to be hard when motor is running.-----Sounds like a small air leak on fuel system------Fuel pumps run off the crankcase compression pressure.-----There may be issues there.----Posting cylinder compression values can help with...
