What about rotted stringers and transom ?? Best bet is to get a good marine survey !! To many hidden expenses that could cost a fortune !

    Marine Insurance

We have had Progressive in the past,v great for auto and boat and SxS toys, but horrible for their home coverage. Had to sue them to get coverage after a tornado took our roof off. Having dealt with insurance companies for close to 60 years, all I can say is....read the fine print ! Make sure...

    Gun Range Vid sort of

I have been told a special eye piece is needed to use a camera on a spotting scope. My 80x Burris is also very touchy and sensitive to vibration, just the nature of hi magnification....

    Marine Insurance

Ins companies are going thru an adjustment period. Some have not made their adjustments yet. Timing can be everything ! Also check carefully for recovery and EPA fines as some ins co. don't cover those costs !! Damage is one thing, but when a boat sinks and needs removed or fuel leaks out...

    Battery change

I often use a cable tie around the pos and neg group of wires so they don't get mixed up.

Swap drives from one boat to another. How many day project?

Add an extra day for unknowns... No matter what I do, I have unseen issues, so I always add an extra day !!

First startup for the season and then died

Wouldn't be surprised if you didn't get excess water at your fuel station. Many stations are to busy to check their tanks and change their filters !! Where you buy your fuel can make a " big" difference !! Get some fuel cans and pump out your tank and check the contents. Once you remove the...

    Water in fuel

Good idea, I had some old solder, so wrapped a few wraps around the end of the line and it seems to keep it low in the tank. When I get all I can out, add another gallon and slosh it around then suck that out. So far so good...

    Water in fuel

FYI....I picked up a small 12v inline fuel pump off Amazon for 12 bucks, added an inline filter and a couple lengths of fuel line , does a great job of pumping out fuel tanks. Filled a 5 gallon can in about 10 minutes...sure beats siphoning. !!

    Hard to pull

If it was easier to pull in the past, then you might have an issue. Did you squirt some light oil into the cylinders and then turn it over ?

    Hard to pull

How strong are you ?....lol...in my younger days, pulling a 40 HP was easy, but at 74....no way. That is why electric start is so popular.. Unless you have a good set of arms, a 40 will be tough to get it spinning fast enough.

    Kicker motor mount height

Yep, had a 9.9 on my 22' cuddy and it would push 12 mph at wot. Typically used much less than half throttle for trolling. I currently have a 16' SC with a 2.2 hp kicker, just over 5 mph at wot...

    Winch replacement suggestions

I would agree on that but on the winch, West won out. Directly from Fulton was 20 bucks higher plus shipping. West had one on the shelf, even has the Fulton stamp on it...Looked at some cheaper import winches, but quality was not as good and savings were small. My winch is great, if cranking...

    Need better hole shot

To much boat and people and not enough HP !! You might be able to help it some, but your not gonna fix it like you want without more HP.

    Winch replacement suggestions

At 74 yrs ild, I don't have the cranking power I had when I was younger. I decided to make it easy on my self and bought a Fulton two speed winch for my 1300 lb boat. A simple lever changes speeds and while the low speed is slightly slower, I can crank it up with one finger. It is a well made...

    SeaNymph parts? Need Bow “nosepiece”

Remove the old one, glue it back together and make a sand cast mold and have a foundry pour a new one. Unlikely you will find another.
