    Merc outboard serial number question

Curious as to whether the 115 was crank or prop rated? I know my prop rated 115 Merc was faster than my crank rated 140 Evinrude on the same Hull.

    Merc outboard serial number question

Speed difference between the 135 and 150 is only 3 more mph, and weaker Hole Shot. The inline 150 was best suited for very light hulls.

    454 in a 21' bowrider

I would go for the Big Block, as It is easier to get Torque with Cubic Inches than trying to make it with Cams, Compression, Carbs, etc. Plus it is making the Power at a Lower Rpm. Higher Horsepower for a Given Displacement, means weaker Low and Mid Rpm Torque

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

I would pull that Carpet back a bit to see if it is hiding any Sins. You have to remove any Compromised Wood. As for Encapsulated Wood... If it ever got wet, it is still wet

    1991 Johnson

The Year of the motor, or what HP is not settled. By the Cowl Markings, it appears to be an 83. However a coat of paint can hide many Sins. In my eyes, all bets are still off.

Electronic Ignition and EFI are wonderful, until they aren't, and they are extremely difficult to Troubleshoot unless you have Tens of Thousands of Dollars in Dedicated/Proprietary Test Equipment, or just want to throw...
