Propeller Recommendation - 1998 Mercury Force 50 HP

Well the Prop Hub looks like it is the correct Diameter for your motor. Sorry to sound like a Broken Record, but the Tach is still suspect. What Setting on the Tach did you select?

So I became a proud boat owner today.

Keep in mind, that a Boat, is a Hole in the Water that you will be continuously pouring Money into. BOAT, is also Acronym for 'Break Out Another Thousand'

So I became a proud boat owner today.

Interesting Angle that the Fuel Tanks sits at. The Supply fitting is on the High side, and since the Pickup Tube, is likely straight, a fair bit of Liquid, be it gasoline any likely water, are never removed from the Tank I imagine the Wood inside the Tubing that the Engine mounts to is rotted...

Propeller Recommendation - 1998 Mercury Force 50 HP

That looks like a Rubber Hub Prop, and the Face of the Prop where the Thrust Washer goes isn't worn away from a Slipping Hub\ Can you provide a couple Pics of the Prop on the Engine, One from the Side, and the other also at that height, but at a 45 Degree Angle looking toward the rear of the...

    Mount Swap

Welcome to iboats What years are the Engines? For Years the Power Trim System was an Accessory that could be easily removed and installed I have to ask this: Are the Engines actual Mercury Engines, or one of those 'Force by Mercury' engines?

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

In the Mid 2000s, Larson, Glastron, and other Genmar Boats, were using Foam in their Transoms, no Wood. It was very dense, like Structural Foam.

Propeller Recommendation - 1998 Mercury Force 50 HP

So now you are saying your research is pointing to a 12" X 15"? Shooting for a specific Rpm, like 5300, might not be achievable. What is the WOT Range for your engine? Does the current Prop have a Rubber Cushioned Hub, or does it have one of those Sacrificial Hubs? Post a Pic of the end of the...

Propeller Recommendation - 1998 Mercury Force 50 HP

What Prop is currently on it? If the Pitch greater than 9 in, then you would be going the Wrong Direction. Also, you are 100% certain that the Tach is set correctly?

Bought a Used Boat, but what is it?

I was out that way in 2000, I was doing an Information Run for an IBEW Local. I assume you will be boating on Crimson Lake. It is about 600 ft higher than Wabuman, where I usually go

    Mercury 150 optimax

The FICHTs were even worse. While the Engines themselves had some serious design Defects, most Dealerships didn't have Service Techs who were properly trained on them. The Dealer would send One Tech, and assumed the Chosen One could train the rest. I assume the same happened at Merc Dealers For...

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

A lot of "woodless" Boats use Foam in place of Plywood in the Transom. I have Never seen a Transom that solid Fiberglass. I know Boston Whalers use Balsa Wood for Structure, but I don't know if that is what they used in the Transom.

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

Fun, No! Boredom Relief, oh yeah Should NEVER back the Trailer up with the motor down. Caution is also needed when on the water and reversing, as the same can happen if the motor strikes an Object

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

If the Transom is that Rotted, the Stringers are likely in similar Condition. You can do whatever You want, it is your Boat, and your Life, and possibly Other's Lives that will be on that boat...
