    agree.. I am just offering options for temperature alarming. personnaly I have never had a temp. alarm in 60 years of boating. noise smell and steam is usually enough to warn me.

    I had some connectors not latching (locking on) if the lip was not bent out just a bit. if yours locks solidly don't " fix it "

    540 hrs is about 50 / year ... nothing to worry about if you keep giving it TLC. it should run fine another 20 years minimum (1000 hrs more) some ETEC have been run 2000 hrs new impeller every 3-4 years to be safe but I have gone much longer on my 75hp check gear oil mid season or minimum...

    hose sizes differ but to my knowledge the OMC connectors are standard and have been since the 60s make certain the click engages some cheap one the click tab needs to be bent a bit outwards

    ok if all else fails drill a " side" 1/8 hole in line with the rear latch mechanism... or just above it ..........spray wd40 or similar release agent with the plastic straw repair.. plug the hole with crazy glue and baking soda. put a piece of scotchtape on the outside surface...

    interesting to see how one can be so neglectfull as to let an investment perish beyond junk value.... a lot of oldies from the 60s look better than this one.! must be the salt.... 10c/lb sound reasonnable :-)

    Mid section filling with water

    weep holes could be clogged with dirt ... slowing down the draining ? tried cleaning them out maybe air pressure, but if crud accumulated inside cavities it will likely plugg up again. drop the LU and check cavities see this little Merc..... it wasn't draining much !!

    Iknow looks don't count but with that compression ...if accurate that engine certainly looks like it was given lots of TLC .

    in the 1989 150hp 9 amps model the sensors are all bridged and sent to the front via the large connector to activate the buzzer via the main TAN wire https://maxrules.com/graphics/omc/wiring/REMCONTBOX.jpg

    the 1989 wire diagram for the 150 shows several sense wire merging in a diode cct with one conductor going into a control cct. presumably an ingnition controller driving the spark plugs . I imagine any ground from any sensors are merge and directed to the control cct (CDI) to alarm...

    Help! 1973 johnson 65 outboard

    can't do much if it won't turn unless the starter is jumped the ground lug needs a good cleaning looks lie the large plug needs to be openned and checked out for corrosion looks like the battery cable to solenoid needs a good clean same for the fuse holder etc... etc... overall...
