    Some good stuff happening

So we picked up this dining room set and China hutch off craigslist today. Asian themed antique stuff and it is HEAVY wood. Anybody know what it is? Mahogany maybe? (Pix are from the craigslist ad.) The dining table itself is 44"x 66" and has to easily weigh between 150 - 200 pounds! Came...

    Some good stuff happening

More garage and home related progress today! :D We put in a full 9 hours of work today. Literally. We're exhausted! Whew! :tongue-new: Yes, it's all indirectly related to boat work! We're turning my hobby room in the house into a dining room. Small house. 900' squared. The "new" dining...

    1971 Starcraft Mariner 18-foot

This is how I did the foam replacement in my Kingfisher. It's home insulation foam paneling. The blue color is from covering the stern pieces with HDPE trash bags which provides fuel proofing.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Took the KF out fishing today and have decided that I want to replace the trolling motor. It doesn't fit the boat well (sticks up too high) and isn't powerful enough at only 28 lbs. thrust. The breeze was only about 8mph but it was pushing the boat around easily even though I was on max power...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Done and done! Thanks for the vice grip tip, worked a treat. :encouragement: Going fishing tomorrow. Wanted to get that done beforehand. :)

What's the best way to remove these dead snaps? I can unscrew the male side but do I just drill through the female side like it was a rivet? I don't want to booger up the fabric.

    Happy Turkey Day..

Bird's out! Best looking one we've ever done. Another half hour for it to rest. Meanwhile, biscuits, mashed potatoes and whatnot are being prepared. Can't wait to sink my chompers into this dinner! :hungry:

    Anybody have a Stevenson Screen?

Nice looking rig. After checking yours out, I started searching others and found one that has the temp/hygro separate from the other units. Could work well in my application... and I promptly closed the browser window and lost what I was looking at! Doh! Yep, the louvers I have...

    Anybody have a Stevenson Screen?

Right now all I have is a simple LaCrosse with remote thermometer/hygrometer. Been using it for years but it's in a bad location so I want to get it to a better place and the Stevenson Screen is the way to go. What I really want is a complete setup with anemometer, rain gauge, etc. that can...

    Anybody have a Stevenson Screen?

Anyone here have (or have built) a Stevenson Screen also known as a weather instrument shelter? I'm building one and am wondering about having an open or screened bottom to maximize airflow. Mine will be constructed of Coroplast sides and top (a double layered top) and some preformed plastic...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

When I initially measured from the ground outside to the top of the windshield light on the Chief, it was about 7' 2" high. But that was just an estimate due to the measurement method. The garage door is 8' tall, but I didn't realize that the door hangs down just a bit. However, when I pulled...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

This is the first year anniversary of our acquiring the Chieftain. Haven't done anything to it for the last year so I thought I should do something. Anything! So I decided to be sure that it actually fits inside the new garage. If it didn't, I'd have some major issues. Will it fit...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

"We" pressure washed the KF today in preparation for getting the inside of the hull painted. Got it cleaned and it will air dry outside in the sun for a couple days before I move it back into the garage for painting. The boy loved the pressure washer. His mom, not so much! It...

Looking for advice on Bait cast reels

Just remember when unsnarling a line tangle to pull the lure into the boat by hand before starting. Ya don't want something like this happening. Ask me how I know!
