    Prop Question

Racer is right about dropping pitch. Speed usually doesn't change that much because the lower pitch prop spins faster. I would also bet your fuel economy won't change much if at all because the 17 will be easier for the motor to spin.

Need advice on power tilt for 1979 85 HP V4 Johnson

1979 up until around 1990 will work, anything from a 3cyl to v6 will work. I would try to find a mid 80s 2 wire unit that uses the smaller relays. Try to get as much of the harness as possible especially the relay box. They are a direct bolt in so installation is fairly easy. Either take the...

1982 90 hp evinrude will not remain trimmed out under power

Yes 82 should interchange with a 1990 T/N/T, Look at how many wires come out of the motor to make sure. Look at the manual release screw on the side of the Unit. IF it is loose or has a bad o-ring it can leak by causing it to drop

    Minimum compression on 9.9hp 1986.

Try a different gauge. I have a 1977 15 hp that runs fine with a hair over 90 psi of compression, I have had several that ran with that compression. What happens if you pump the primer ball when it bogs? Does pulling the choke out make a difference? Did you pull until the needle on the tester...

Can I add an Oil Pump to a Yamaha CV85

You need to get the parts schematic for the 90 hp and the 85 hp. The 90 came with oil injection and is the exact same block as your 85. Only the parts fiche will tell you if you can.

    2 stroke power head swaps.

Which one? The 50 was built on the 51 cid block and the 45 cid block. I do not believe any of the 3 cylinder Yamahas interchange with each other.

    2 stroke power head swaps.

Is that a 3 cylinder powerhead? And which displacement is it 46 cid or 51 cid. Or is it the 69 cid 80/90 block?

    Who has installed Helicoils ?

Take it to a machine shop. This post has gone on way to long for something as simple as a heli coil. If drilling and tapping make you uncomfortable they are cheap to have installed.

Need to buy a CDI for 1988 Yamaha

I would try to find the cheapest Yamaha snowmobile CDI from that time period and see If I could make it work. The snowmobile aftermarket is a little bigger than the outboard one. I am pretty sure that Yamaha uses a lighting coil in the outboards as well as their sleds so the ignitions are...

    Who has installed Helicoils ?

If you install the heli coil correctly it will work the same as a threaded hole. Should easily be able to put the bolt in by hand and then torque it. Make sure you drill and tap it straight. Head bolts are NOT a high torque area the helicoil will work fine. Just a lot of overthinking of...
