    1975 Aristocraft w/ 120 no start

If the foam is waterlogged, then rhe wood skeleton will be rotted out. This skeleton supports the fiberglass so all the bad wood needs removed and fresh new string wood needs glassed into place. A messy, ugly, nasty job but some do it....

Did I flood it, did I mis use the remote, was it old fuel, or all of the above?

Not what my manual states, push in for a couple seconds then turn key to start. My OMC was a push in as you turn the key, but my particular Merc doesn't like that. Often just fails to fire until flooded or it just keeps cranking. After reading a post on this forum, I looked up a manual, push...

Did I flood it, did I mis use the remote, was it old fuel, or all of the above?

Same control I have on my 1992 Merc OB. You will need to experiment some to find what works best for your motor !! First thing is to be sure you have gas that is less than 2 months old !! Then install new spark plugs !! Shifter straight up, lift fast idle arm up about 3/4 up. Push in choke...

    1991 Johnson

That is why it pays to get a title, registration or hand written reciept with numbers and specs on the motor !! Without any paperwork at all it could be stolen !! The sherriff won't return your purchase price when they take it !!

Props for Yamaha F100 and 17 Boston Whaler

If the engine goes up more you may well vent...if performance is all your after a SS prop will help if the cost is worth it ! Dropping two full inches in pitch might be to much, but dropping to a 15 with a good cup on the blades might work. Without actually seeing the boat/ motor perform, we...

    1975 Aristocraft w/ 120 no start

I see lots of corrosion on all the conections, all need taken apart and cleaned until nice and shiney !! Battery needs to be 12.6 volts minimum. Once all connections are cleaned and polished up nice use a voltmeter to follow the power. Make sure the wood skeleton of your boat is not rotted...

    Sacrificial Aluminum Prop

So, your better at determining what is best for your engine than the engineers that designed it ?? Lugging your engine is not noticible in a boat like a street vehicle. After spending all your hard earned money on a nice boat, why woukd a few hundred on props be an issue ?? Just curious ??

Bought a Used Boat, but what is it?

My mechanic says they are loosing money on 4 strokes after the warranty runs out. People don't want to spend the repair costs on the 4 strokes and they are to difficult to work on on there own. Their shop had to spend a quarter million on speciality tools to service the new engines. Home...

    Sacrificial Aluminum Prop

You will end up using more fuel and get less performance...kinda like driving your vehicle in high gear at 10 mph. Problems will arrise sooner or later...

    Replacing Keel rollers

Depending on hull shape, sometimes the bunk being bowed adds more support. To ridged in spots could cause dents....can't tell about your situation so just offering some food for thought....

Bought a Used Boat, but what is it?

If you can afford to pay others my hat is off to you. When I had my I/O, I didn't have many surprises and most work could be handled by myself. Parts were a lot cheaper and easier acess over a large outboard. I have had to downsize due to health issues, so back to an older two stroke 40 hp...

    Solas Amita vs OEM (Yamaha)?

Might be a difference in bigger props for bigger motors. I wanted another prop for my 40 hp outboard, our local prop shop recomended michigan wheel and showed me some differences. Solas was OK but the blades were thicker and not as effiencent as the thinner blade MW props. Not sure how they...

    Prop damage threshold

Yep, bent blades can be just as bad as out of balance as the load on each blade changes so some serious load changes are not gonna be good !!!! At slow speed you can limp back to the dock, but prolonged running at speed will just put excess wear on the entire engine. So which is easier to...

Johnson 50hp swap to a Johnson 110hp Possible?

You didn' ask about a bolt on, you ask if you could swap them.....you could swap to any motor and drill new holes! Whenever you buy another motor, there are certain things that should be done before using it.
