HELP!!! I have an old Eska 1971 5.0 h.p. motor prop.

You might see if Sears has anything for it. Sears marked the 5HP Eska under the Gamefisher label, in about that timeframe, and they still sell parts for many items, even though they are mostly defunct.

1973 mercury 850 outboard ignition wires

Try tiger tails. They are avail, but you need to look around for them. Try surplusunlimited. I think you want the ign wires with the screw end. The spring and spark plug end can be put together easily.

    Companies who ship outboards

Gee, I had $2000 of ferrites shipped overnight to the west coast, in a snow storm, on the east coast, on a Friday at 3PM, were the ferrites were located. I think it was $3K for the shipping, but the program was at stake, so the price was flexible. This was well before the Amazon model...

1989 Mercury outboard lower unit rebuild

Use the gear pump tube as a hose to pressurize the gearcase. A bicycle pump will provide enough pressure. See where it is leaking. My '77 Merc leaked at the waterpump base seal, several times. Easily replaced. My '93 Merc has leaked twice at the shift seal. You need a spanner to replace...

    Companies who ship outboards

I had an outboard powerhead shipped to me by one of those rebuilders here on iBoats. I am not sure who did the crating, but the shipping was by one of the larger commercial shippers. DHL maybe? I remember it cost $70 for shipping of the powerhead to me and the core return, 15 years ago, which...

Well, That's It. Another Season Over

Gee, with climate change, I need only two sweatshirts (mostly) for the winter here in NJ. It is not real cold, at least not often for too long. When we get snow our dog thinks he can take over the neighborhood with his pee. Of course, all dogs think that. This year I need to raise my dock as...

winterizing a mercruiser 3.0 with sterndrive kept in water year round

I bought a 40Watt heating pad (in plastic and likely fireproof) and removed the fuzzy cover from the heating pad. I wired it under the oil pan of my '88 MerCruiser V6. My thoughts were that if the lagoon didn't freeze we had some fishing before us. Also warm oil keeps the engine warm...

    Fogging thru carburetor

As a minimum you need to pull the engine and manifold plugs and poke the drains. You can catch the antifreeze for further use, although, not knowing it strength makes it difficult to use. I would use it to flush out the drains, if it has good color. A cup or two into each hose and watch for...

2006 150 DFI Optimax Overheating Issue

You may be slightly over propped at "plowing speeds". That would be unusual.... Not many travel at that speed except in a storm. Alternatively, the poppit valve is supposed to open at about 2000RPM. Maybe the poppit valve is still closed leading to overheat. You did put the correct poppit...

    Fogging thru carburetor

As Scott politely said, the fogging is not an issue, after your block cracks. Fogging 4 cycle motors is nice, but not a necessity. If it bothers you, pull the spark plugs and give the cylinders a blast of fogging oil. If your block was not drained before running on the muffs/antifreeze, I...

Well, That's It. Another Season Over

Florida has wonderful weather at Halloween time. The air was 74 and the ocean was 75. It could not have been nicer. It is miserable in June-August, at least it was for me. In June. even the morning sun hurt my head. Even with a cap on it hurt. With a wet hat on, in the pool or in the...

    Johnson 10hp driveshaft

You might post this in the Johnnyrude forum. Those guys will know for sure. The drivesahft on my '59 Johnny V4 just pulled out. It had 4 splines, if I remember correctly. There was a half circle strap that held the pinon gear into the bearing of the gearcase.

Well, That's It. Another Season Over

I pulled the boats a couple of weeks ago. it was miserable cold and windy/rainy for a week, now the last few days have been nice. However, if I had left the boats in, I likely wouldn't have used them, as I have so many other things to do, and they would have just sat there.

2013 Mercruiser 3.0 MPI (engine rebuild)

Why not consider installing a reman 4.3V6? Much better motor. You will likely need to rebuild the motor mounts, though.

Yes, but what quality gear oil was avail in 1994? Was it better than Supertech is now?

Gee, why not fix the exhaust leak.

For a motor that old, most any marine gear lube for mechanical shift motors is fine.

    Increase power 1993 150 proV

Your speed is not bad for a 150 on a Bass boat. You might calculate the slip, which will not be much. Maybe raise the motor a bit to lower drag.

looking for key for remote johnson 60 hp

Gee, this is a boat. Get a new key or a lock and key. One snip of a wire cutter allows the boat to be used. Boats can be stolen by towing them away with a rowboat, dingy or waverunner. Security is not paramount.

    Swapping engines 2004 90hp mercury to a 1989 125 Force wiring

Are you installing the '89 to replace the 2004? Usually, folks do the opposite. If installing the newer motor, you should price new controls. I paid $130 for new Merc controls and wiring harness. It was plug and play. The wiring for both motors is likely the same or real close, unless the...
