    I would try Cosby's suggestion....easy first move. By the way, tough little gearcase and if you hurt it there are lots of used ones out there. People burn up the power heads more often.

    If you paid $30 bucks for 2 coils than I'm not sure what quality you bought. I would finish dialing in the motor before I went fishing. Have you done a link and sync?

    Yes, there are two coils. Swap them and see if your problem follows.

    I have the 87 and it's slightly different. I have the low speed screw on the front and then they moved it to the side so I agree 89...90 all the same really. Are you having any issues with it?

    There's a good chance the lower unit won't come off. (Stuck shaft) pray that's not the case.

    In Washington state no titles for motors either. I agree motor is not running on all 3 cylinders. Check spark as well. The carb number he wants is on this tag.

    Sounds like more of a seized bearing or something. We shall see I guess.

    Yes, next time don't just order a part when you haven't tested what's wrong. Swapping or testing coils, plug wires.....dirty connections, the list goes on.

    Get a spark gap length tool. You can get an inexpensive single one for under $10 Check spark for a 3/8 jump with a good blue snap. Most likely bad spark or crap in the carb. Don't run it with high rpm's in a barrel or on muffs.

    Did you replace all of your fuel hoses? Might just be gunked up again.

    Tranny fluid and acetone makes the best penatrating oil. Been down your road though will little success.

    Glad it came off....impeller is shot but like you said, good to see all it's fins intact. Time to get busy!
