1976 Mercury 1150 Yellow Fluid Leak (Steering?)

I also see someone has gnarled up the cable with some vise grips or channel locks. Once you get it back in then you will need to grind those flush again.

1976 Mercury 1150 Yellow Fluid Leak (Steering?)

Hard to understand your descriptions. Looks to me like your trying to remove your steering cable from the tilt tube. If you pounded it in without any lube or if it just stopped going you need to apply lube to the other side and try to put it back in. I have used a slide hammer to pull it back...

1976 Mercury 1150 Yellow Fluid Leak (Steering?)

You have a steering cable with a rack and pinion helm station. Very likely all shot. Looks to me like you have all kinds of work to do. Is the motor locked up?

1976 Mercury 1150 Yellow Fluid Leak (Steering?)

Yes, mechanical. You have a steering cable that is most likely froze up. Remove this nut and bolt and see if your motor turns without the cable hooked up. If it doesn't turn you probably have more than one problem.

A picture of the front of the motor (engine well) or helm would verify what type of helm you have.

    Evinrude 25202r WOT adjustment

Not sure if this was said before but try to borrow another compression tester and see if it's different otherwise yes it could just be wore out. Unless you have a dyno or a big test tank you can't re-creat that.

Grease doesn't go into the tube....it goes around the outside of the tube and around the bushing. They do make upgrades, a stainless tube and a nut with a grease fitting in it so you can periodically grease inside the tube.

98 Evinrude 115 (E115SLECM) Not going into gear

Well it sounds cable or binnacle related because you got it to go into both gears. Motor should shift easy if it's running.

98 Evinrude 115 (E115SLECM) Not going into gear

Is the shift cable broken? Or what's your question.

Here's what most would have in order.....thrust washer, prop, splined washer, nut and cottor key. I don't see any of those on your shaft.

intermittent tach and not charging 1994 ocean pro 150

Replace it. As to why it fried.....I wouldn't know. I looked up your part and it's pretty pricy so you may want to do more testing of the other components. I know less about that.
