Dual I/O 3.0l(non-dts) Mercruiser Remote Control Recommendations

The only aftermarket controls that are decent is morse/teleflex but they do not compare in quality to oem. If you are looking to replace a remote, (sounds like a twin engine setup, possibly a binnacle mount?) the best option is mercruiser brand.

    Upper drive shaft oil seals

The installation tool needs to occupy the space the bearing cup sits in for proper seal installation

Alpha 2 not coming out of gear after new interrupt switch.

Probably don't need to adjust the cables. However there is some minor adjustment for the switch, possible the switch is either off center or too close to one side of the v notch. Plunger should be right in the middle at neutral position. There is a stiffer v notch spring avaliable, sometimes...

throttle control is acting like an ignition switch.

Could be the neutral safety switch in the remote is getting power when you shift into fwd. That is not good, need to inspect the controller. Possible short to power from the lanyard switch wiring or power trim button wiring

    Alpha one lower shift cable

Correct, keep in mind you are not creating new threads with the tap. All alpha style bell housings are threaded 1/4 - 18 NPS. The reason for running a tap through is to clean up existing threads to aid installing the new cable. You may run the tap from either direction, the threads will be the...

    Bearing preload

3-7 lb/in rolling torque. Must be measured with a dial lb/in torque wrench. This is the method for all gen 2 alpha drives. The 70 lb/ft torque on the nut is only for earlier model alpha style drives with the proper spacer between the bearings

    Alpha one lower shift cable

Okay, sounds as though you are replacing an aft threaded cable with an aft threaded cable. See the lower pic achris posted, this has been the standard cable for over 40 years. We boat people like to use the terms forward, aft, port, starboard. Not front, back, left, right. Really aids in...

    Alpha one lower shift cable

Your new cable will work fine. Haven't been able to purchase the fwd thread style for a long time. The hole and thread pitch are the same size. Tap is just to clean up the threads from corrosion/build up over time

    Alpha one lower shift cable

Looks like you're replacing a cable that threads in from the fwd side of the bell housing. Haven't seen one if those for a while. Probably need to run a tap through the threads to help start the cable from the aft side Thread size is 1/4 - 18 NPS

Blowby through vent tube? Mercruiser 3.7

This is the second time you've posted in this thread what OP should have done. That time has passed and now OP has an issue and is seeking RELEVANT information regarding the issue. It's great you have a good running engine, have done all kinds of maintenance and are proud of it, good job. It...

Blowby through vent tube? Mercruiser 3.7

Yes, plugs are oil fouled. Not wet fouled, OP says plugs are dry with oil cooked/hard on the plugs. Look close at #2 plug, same cylinder with low compression. Plug tang has debris flaked off with the likelihood of excess heat being the culprit. Oil blowing past the rings into the combustion...

Small amount of water in gear oil.

Yeah, don't put engine oil in your drive, for any reason. At all.

My 1984 Sea Ray part verification please

If you remove the dist cap and look there will either be a points set/condenser under a standard rotor or there will be an electronic hall effect sensor and a rotor with a metal ring that has gaps in it much like a castle nut. It's possible you have either, that was a time when t bolt was...

Changing upper oil seal in Mercruiser alpha one

Between the bearings, 1/4" thick ring that slides on the yoke shaft. Approx 1.5" o.d. You really should have a manual, the process is explained clearly and pretty tough to get wrong

Changing upper oil seal in Mercruiser alpha one

That tool would help but i just use a wide hose clamp to hold the bearing pack together. As far as torquing the nut it depends on if you have a spacer between the bearings or not. Spacer means torque nut to 70 lb/ft, no spacer means you have to check the rolling torque. Best to get the factory...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

All efi engines have a diagnostic plug to read faults and engine management data. Judging by your experience the fault is critical enough to trigger guardian mode and reduce available power to idle speeds

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL-B does not go properly

Sounds like your battery is toast. Have you load tested it? Good idea to replace the dust cap/rotor, they look nasty

    No beep when key turned

Most likely they are related. Sounds as though there is an issue with the key switch/wiring You can ohms test the switch to see if it is failing
