    What type of 70 amp battery? Sounds too small. Yamaha specifies a flooded lead acid battery with a minimum of 502 Marine Cranking Amps. I would check the ground circuits from the rectifier/regulator to the engine wire harness. Ground connections of the battery cables at the motors also. But...

    Yams don't use a trigger. Either a pulser coil or a crank position sensor initiates electrical discharge from the CDI assembly. Sometimes both are used.

    All Yams use two relays of a fashion. Those that have trim and tilt or power tilt. Some integrated together within one unit. Some use two separate relays. Ala Mercury. Google is not needed. Outboard motor forums not needed.

    Mercury offered a trim and tilt relay modification for those motors that were made for Mercury by Yamaha. Branded as Mercury models. As noted, some changed to the Mercury style of relays in lieu of staying with the Yamaha relay assembly. Seems to be what you have.

    It relates because Yamaha says that the electrical generation system of the F115 is compatible with an AGM lead acid battery. The age is irrelevant.
