GY Endurance is load range D in that size. That’s probably the best tire you can get now.

    trailer tires

I’ve been using those Kenda Load Star bias tires for years. Only local towing though but no failures. I change em when I see cracks starting. Usually 6-7 years. I prefer bias tires for my use…narrow driveway narrow ramp is tough on sidewalls & bias sidewalls are stronger than radial sidewalls...

Yes the Cobras are slit on the bottom to reduce exhaust back pressure at idle speed.

    FELL Marine MOB+ Install

The way I read the law this was for new boats but you don’t have to retro fit it to older boats unless you want to.

Volvo Penta Drive Belt - Lots of dust and quickly wearing??

Well it could be that, I would put an amp clamp on your Alt output to see what it is putting out, you may need a higher capacity alternator. If it is being pushed to max output all the time that could be it.

    01 horizon 180 inquiry

Sorry to say that may be the only way, unless you can find something from Great Lakes boat supply they sometimes have discontinued stuff. If I were you I might just patch it the best you can and get it done in the off season.

Repair Manual for newer MerCruiser 4.5L 250hp

With cast iron engines oftentimes it is a flake of rust keeping the stat from closing all the way & then the engine runs cool unless you have it up on plane....

volvo penta 3.0L exhaust manifold leak test

Very good now you just have to dress the sealing surface between the manifold & exhaust elbow. You can use a mill bastard file or a sanding block with 80 grit sandpaper. Then check the flatness with a straight edge & feeler gauges you want it to be less than .003” thickness variation. Preferably...

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

From looking over the literature on this system the main difference I see is simply that, the cap on the hub looks to have a better system to seal out water. Threaded cap with a rubber o ring seal. I've been using the same Lucas Marine grease which by the way, is a calcium sulfonate base not...

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

With that system can you tell if water has entered the hub? Any of these systems are only as good as the seals; as long as I don’t see signs of moisture coming out if the expelled grease abs the bearings feel smooth when I spin the wheel I’m good.

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

I think the original axle that came with the trailer was like that I replaced it within a year or 2 with the first one Champion made for me.

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

PS: With the spindle lube every year after the boat is launched I always greased the bearings thoroughly & have never seen any sign of moisture or corrosion. If you take a sample of the grease and wet it you see it get milky right away the dark blue will get light blue. So that’s what I did for...

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

That Cherokee was never really a “Jeep” it was based on an Alfa Romeo platform. The problem with those was that they botched the ZF 9 speed auto trans programming it took them 3 model years to get it right. On my other Jeep (2007 Grand Limited 5.7) the only bearing part I had to replace was the...

Then there’s my ‘98 Jeep with the sealed front bearings. It’s 25 years old has 181,000 miles on it & still has the original bearings up front & they haven’t needed to be replaced, neither has any of the 6 ujoints…also “permanently lubricated”

RE: Issues with Mercruiser 5.0 LX 4 Barrel Carb

Well on mine, I had blown HGs putting water in 2 cyls not enough to hydrolock but when I took the heads off it was obvious. The engine would start, run rough, then after about 5 min smooth out. When it cooled off they would get sticky again. You can also get rust on the stem, that for sure will...

RE: Issues with Mercruiser 5.0 LX 4 Barrel Carb

PPS I went back and looked at the beginning of this long thread and your exhaust elbows looked HORRIBLE, (way past replacement time) it seems quite likely that you had water leaking into your cyls, causing sticky valves, if the heads have not been off, do a leak down test and see what it shows...

RE: Issues with Mercruiser 5.0 LX 4 Barrel Carb

PS one hydraulic lifter being adjusted too tight can cause a valve not to close all the way and that can cause low compression. Heads were checked by a machine shop? It is common due to leaky inboard wet exhaust that you can have sticky valves causing lower compression.

RE: Issues with Mercruiser 5.0 LX 4 Barrel Carb

If one is at 80 psi that’s too low. A small block Chevy in good shape should have compression #s of approx 150; but it you did the comp test on a cold engine it would not be that accurate. Warm up engine set throttle wide open, remove spark plugs & disable ignition. After I replaced the cyl...

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

I had the same experience. 17 years with the first axle and 2 years with the second. When the drum brakes need service I change the seals & inspect the bearings. If I were dunking every week that would be different but this is a moored boat & the trailer only goes in salt water 2-4 times a year.
