Someones after market home made add on. Didn't come from the factory like that. I have a bigger but similiar trailer. Where the wood is located should be a set of rollers that adjust to the hull as the boat is winched on. They should be balanced so that the rear is down low to help get the...

    Cracked beam an issue?

By all means repair those cracks !! Depending on how you use the boat will depend on how involved your repair needs to be. If it were mine, at the minimum I would make bracing to cover and re-enforce those areas. Welding and bracing would be prefered. Someone has been running in some rough...

    Bluegill

I hear ya...many years back I had family in Florida, made many fishing trips to the ocean. While great fun and the fish all have big teeth, I find my preference for the more mild fresh water fish for eating. As long as I am able, I plan on living near good freshwater fisheries, but I would...

According to my Pennzoil TCW3 oil container, this two stroke oil has been certified to run in any two cycle engine whether air or water cooled !! Bluegill

They are excellent table fare, but finding big ones can be a challenge. Also they put up a great fight. In my area of the great lakes the yellow perch is very popular, the bluegill tastes just a tiny bit sweeter than a yellow perch. Many years back had a friend on a private lake that had a...

Replacing old 2 stroke with newer 4 stroke advice?

Not new tech at all, but the application is all new !! For decades we have been taught that 4 strokes should not be held at high rpm for long periods of time, to much mechanical and failures will occur. Now we are using OB motors at 6500 rpm for long periods of time ( boating) and we should...

Replacing old 2 stroke with newer 4 stroke advice?

Yet, wait another ten years or so and see what the price will be on a rebuilt, especially when shop rates will be 200 per hour or more. Look at how many two strokes still run perfect that are 40-50 years old, lets see how many four strokes are still running perfect after 40-50 years. Mabey...

    What size trailer winch?

My winch is way over rated for the weight of my boat, but at 73 yrs old, I needed to make it easy, not fast !! Even with the easy slow, low gear it only adds a minute or two to the cranking time....but oh so much easier !

    What size trailer winch?

Unless that is damaged or flawed it should hold the weight of your boat. Many lift systems use the bow eye and two stern eyes to lift the entire boat ..same as your winch strap, the snap eye should surpase the rating on the strap itself.
