Engine starts to sputter/breakup/lose power after warm 3.0 ‘98

Yes, this could absolutely be the culprit. 2 styles of filter, one that looks like ceramic and one that's paper. I think only the paper style is sold now. Won't find them at a flaps (maybe napa), otherwise here at iboats, walmart maybe, Amazon Edit: would have thought that the new fuel pump...

    Fuel pressure dropping.

That's all I can think of. Some applications have shims behind the pump which control the lever travel, not sure in your application. But if that's the case I'm not sure if the pressure would ever rise high enough, or if it would be a strictly volume issue. Swapping an electric in would answer...

Needing Wiring Assistance After Engine Swap

There is no neutral wire in DC circuits. Red and black are positive and negative, white can be anything. In AC circuits black or red is hot, white neutral and green is ground No response where? When you turn the key to "run", you shouldn't get anything. When turned to "start/crank" there should...

Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 Project

Yes, if that's leaking though your shift shaft cavity will be a mess. #9 and 4 are sold together now, you need to press it in. Exhaust bellows leak wouldn't cause an issue.

Engine starts to sputter/breakup/lose power after warm 3.0 ‘98

Not sure what arrow you're talking about, but if you're getting steady flashing from the light, it's probably ok. If the $25 is for a coil, don't bother. That test would only tell you that something is wrong with the ignition, not that the coil was bad. Didn't sound like ignition anyway if the...

Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 Project

Gimbal bearing is affected by water in there, but not the cause. If that's gear lube mixed with the water then it's an input shaft seal in the drive. If it's actually grease, then the drive is ok. Either way you have water in your bellows, which can be a breach in the bellows, water in the boat...

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

That looks tough to do/would take a lot of force, but I haven't dealt with the gen 2. It certainly looks like it's close to 90' in reverse.

    Fuel pressure dropping.

No, wouldn't apply to a mechanical pump, nor with the symptoms starting after the drop in fp.

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

Yeah, that's what I was asking above, since it looks like reverse is too far over... But how would it get misaligned?

    Fuel pressure dropping.

He said the vent lines and fuel pump have both been replaced. You should try running off a Jerry can, maybe get a cheap electric pump for testing purposes to narrow things down

    Electric fuel pump install.

Doesn't matter. I was able to find a location that let me reuse the hard line to the carb after cutting/flaring one end. If you're using flexible line that gives you unlimited options

    Hydrolocked in the parkinglot

When it's in forward, does the shaft point straight ahead? Normal behavior for the drive to pop out of gear without a load on it. If you put some pressure on the prop while you turn the shaft it should stay in gear. @alldodge @achris , how could that shift shaft get off a tooth? Looks like a...

Engine starts to sputter/breakup/lose power after warm 3.0 ‘98

Possible, the timing light on the coil wire eliminates an ignition problem up until that point

    Fuel pressure dropping.

Assuming you've checked the filter before changing it and didn't see anything? Problem was there prior to replacing the pump? Does the problem start right when the pressure drops, or a bit after? Is the pump still running during the episodes (wondering if you're having an electrical issue)?

Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 Project

You don't need to worry about that. Personally I wouldn't mess with it until I needed to. Might replace it at that time. It isn't affecting anything.

    Two year old fuel

The MMO won't do anything to renew the gas. Even without varnish, it will still run like crap (if at all) if all the volatile HCs have evaporated.
