    warning alarm wont stop beeping

A '94 Mariner would usually have oil injection. There are low and no oil alarms associated with that system. There is a "Lube alert" component which is supposed to control and differentiate those different alarms. It will have 5 wires and a ground. See if the oil injection is still connected...

    warning alarm wont stop beeping

Look on the cylinder head of the motor for a brown or tan wire. That is the overheat alarm. A lot of motors do not have a sender for a gauge, just a simple overheat sensor. I assume you have a separate buzzer? One side should be connected to purple, the other side should be connected to that...

    98 Johnson leaking hydraulic fluid.

Normally you use a spanner with 2 studs to remove the hydraulic cylinder caps. They are avail on Amazon for small $ A Sierra PTT motor is likely good. Normally I use ARCO, but it likely mach nicht. Repair kits for the entire PTT unit are avail. They contail orings and seals. I would get...

How do you test a lower unit for leaks.

OK, but not too much pressure, or you will have a leak. Say 5psi max?

2012 Mercury has occasional shudder when just in gear

My old Evinrude did that. Of course, it was a Frankenrude, with the wrong carb on it. I therefore think it is a fuel related miss. What kind of motor is it? 2 Stroke EFI? Maybe the fuel injector needs adjustment or the injectors are clogged? I would unplug and clean all electrical cables...

    1998 TRACKER PT175 "No compression"

A 3 cylinder 175HP motor is unusual. They would normally be a V6. Let's pretend the damage is as the seller says. To fix the issue, the block would need to be torn down, the top cylinder bored oversize, and a new OS piston and rings installed. After reassembly, you will need to find the...

How do you test a lower unit for leaks.

If you have a gear oil pump, use the hose on a bicycle pump to add a few PSI to the gearcase and listen/watch for leaks. if you don't have a gear oil pump, I recommend you get one. It makes adding gear oil much easier than squeezing the silly tubes.

Boat is always in forward gear

Make sure you have the cables connected to the motor properly. Remove the wrap cowl. Have someone move the control from neutral to forward. The first cable to move at the engine is the shift cable. It should be connected to the shift slide under the throttle arm.

    Blistering paint on lower unit

Is the paint original? Latex or lousy paint will do that. What part of the gearcase is plastic?

    Wiring issues

Navigation lights, including gauge lights would normally be run thru a dedicated switch on the dashboard. The engine wiring would not be involved as it doesn't know when it is dark. However, I usually just wire the gauge lights to the purple wire. When the ign is on, the gauges are lit. Much...

    Changing remote controls?

usually the control "guts" will come off inside the panel, as that is where the control cables are. You need to get the lever off and the chrome trim piece to be able to push the control thru the panel and off. Sitck you hand up under the panel and locate the control cables. That should tell...

    Wiring issues

Trim sender is for a trim gauge. If you get the Mercury harness or generic equivalent, the wire colors should match Mercury's.

    Wiring issues

The 5 prong plug is P/N a-84-86396A4 I believe. Grey is tach sender, purple is switched +12VDC, black is ground, tan/blue is oil injection alarm, brown/white is trim sender. You need to check the function of the loose wires. Brown is likely temp gauge. Ground the brown wire on the temp...

    Changing remote controls?

Best way? Not sure I understand. 1) Buy a control compatible with your engine. 2) replace or swap over the control cables. 3) hook up the neutral interlock switch, 4) put it in. Did I miss the essence of the question?

    Motor needs help.

Gee easy stuff. Break 'em, twist 'em out if necessary, split the nuts, or turn them with a chistle. A box wrench makes it work.. Once you have the nuts off, lift the powerhead with a lift of some kind. Push it to break it loose. Corrosion will give it up on mounting bolts. The studs are...

    Trim up not working

The PTT motor seems good. the relays seem good. It appears the wiring is bad. I would check the trim limit switch.

How do you guys mix Gas

Gee, oil will not mix well if it concentrated in the bottom of a fuel tank. It mixes very well if the tank is mixed a few gallons at a time. So figure out how many gallons your fuel tank will take, error margin is 3 gal. Let's pretend you think the tank has 24 gallons to be filled. Divide...

    Motor needs help.

Gee, it takes a lot to make the powerhead bolts non removeable. Put a good box or open end wrench on 'em and try it. If the studs come out, OK. If they break, that's OK too. If you need to split the nuts, that works as well.

    Need some help fellas !!

If you do want to start it without a battery, the charging system will likely get damaged. I would install a battery, to prevent that. The battery can be no good, but it's connection (and load on) the charging system will prevent damage.
