Tee Nee Flatbed tilt trailers of the 70's

Holsclaw used coil springs exclusively. The TeeNees that I personally owned all had leaf springs. Those were from the 70's and 80's.

Tee Nee Flatbed tilt trailers of the 70's

I have been a TeeNee fan since the 1960's. I also have a huge collection of boat related literature going back to the 1950's. I distinctly remember that TeeNee did indeed sell utility trailers. They had a fold-out insert in the boat trailer catalog describing the utilities. I kept that...

    speedo gauge wrapped around.

Never heard of a novo penta speedo?? Maybe you need to provide a part number. Are you saying that the pitot tube speedo cable wrapped around the propeller? If it happened when trailering, maybe you need to raise the outdrive and put it in reverse so the prop doesn't spin.

Two Trolling motor on one Inflatable boat

The OP never said gas motors, single OR dual. When someone says "trolling motor" they usually mean electric. He DID say "faster". That doesn't compute with fishing. The OP needs to clarify before we make more suggestions. (OMG, twin mercs on a rubber boat! That's one for the record books.)

Two Trolling motor on one Inflatable boat

If I read the question correctly, the OP simply wants his boat to go faster. In that case the 2-stroke suggestion is the best option. Along those lines, the battery requirements for 2 electric motors in itself will kill the idea. If all he wants to do is fishing trolling, then a bigger...

Mercruiser 5.0 TKS vs 4.3 MPI

We sold our 3.0 Mercruiser last year after having owned it for 35 years. About 1250 hours on the clock. Maintenance was by the book and we used E10 for however many years it was available. The carb was adjusted as necessary and I replaced the choke spring once, but the carb was never rebuilt...

Old girl for sale. Need advice

Beautiful old boat. Your Dad took real nice care of it. I would be proud to have my Dad's boat. My first inclination would be to contact the Antique Classic Boat Society or the Antique Outboard Motor Club. Those are 2 sources of potential buyers. Look up ACBS.org and AOMCI.org. and see if...

2020 Starcraft Marine MDX Surf 231 IO Surf

I don't speak from personal experience since I don't own one and never would consider it. My opinion is purely based on what I've read in the boat rags, plus never having actually seen one on the water. The first one I saw was at the Miami boat show. Later shows in my home area turned up not...

2020 Starcraft Marine MDX Surf 231 IO Surf

We all have opinions and we all have likes and dislikes. That's why they make so many different styles and sizes because they want to attract the biggest market possible. I'm going to apologize ahead of time in case you buy the boat. * The bimini is too too small. It will be a waste of time...

    Replacing Porch Post

Replace with cedar 4x4s. Coat with Flood UV every 3 years. If you want even less maintenance, cover them with vinyl wraps.

    New boat question

Yeah, muskys are our thing too. We use single or double jointed pikie minnows and run 1.8 - 2.0 mph. Any faster than that and the lure action isn't right. I used to run a 9.9 on my past boats, but currently my 5.0 Sail Pro pushes our SeaRay at about 6.0 mph at 3/4 throttle.

    Fulton XLT 10.0 Inquiry

The hook clippy part is detachable. Note the ribbed button. I guess it can be replaced if it wears out. Anywhoot, if your strap hook is on the large side and you are a bit rambunctious in popping it out, the hooky part will fall off. Fortunately, it floats and is easily retrievable. The 2...

    Power Trailer Winches

Just curious about y'all's opinions. Which brand is the best? I have been switching from one boat to the other (don't use 2 boats at the same time), but I thought I might buy a second one just to minimize the hassle.

    Yamaha FX HO Misfiring?

2015 model with about 100 hours. It always started up almost instantaneously, even the first time after sitting all Winter. This year it cranks for a few seconds when cold, and starts up good when warmed up. I'm reporting this to show a difference in perceived performance, not necessarily a...

    Bow roller position wrong

What you have now id probably marginally OK, but I'd go back to what you had. Except, leave out the center roller. Replace it with a rubber sleeve (or a real small roller). The hull should line up well with the 2 outside rubber pieces. Whatever you do, though, don't trail that boat until you...

    SeaDek Experience/Reviews?

Our delivery was less than stellar. There were stains on the floor from greasy boots. It cleaned up fast and easy with the OEM Seadek brand cleaner. I can attest that "pop" stains come out with ease. I don't understand the hot floor comments. Vinyl Marideck floors (and the like) are hotter than...

    1977 Marquis.. Freeport? Need info

Duh....why don't you just scan the page...LOL. The catalog is not dated, not even so much as a printing date. However, my guess is its 77 or 78, certainly before 79.

    Karavan Boat Trailers

Over the past 50+ years I have owned Holsclaws, TeeNees, Loadrites, EZ Loaders, Yacht Clubs, Sterlings and now I have 2 Karavans. I often read comments stating that Karavans are low end trailers. In my case, the fit and finish is excellent, as is driveability, etc. I see no issues, plus their...

    Kicker Motor

For a 19 footer 10 HP is optimum. It will take you to hull speed. You can add more HP but it won't make the boat go much faster. If you already happen to have an 8 HP, give it a try before you go bigger. A 6 would be too small (tried it on my 19 footer) The most logical setup is mounting it on...
