    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

But there was a leak as I pointed out on the exhaust manifold H/Es can be pressure tested that info would be in the “super top secret dealer only shop manual”.

    Merc 4.3

Well if you try to save money & buy a 15 year old boat that was neglected…not maintained not winterized etc then yes… If maintained they can easily last 30 years or more.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Well I’d head over to a dealer and after buying some maintenance parts see if they’ll share the super secret Volvo procedure with you lol. I used to buy parts for my OMC from my mechanics (since retired) instead of on line because: Wanted to give local guys the business They were nice about...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I’m thinking that Volvo must have a procedure on how to fill the full closed cooling system if you are installing a new engine let’s say so as to avoid air pockets. That can definitely cause hot spots

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

If you can try getting one of those Lisle radiator funnels they work well for that purpose. Seeing as how the manifolds are antifreeze cooled (correct?) and the design has that tall section there appears to be places for air to collect if there was a small leak. And, the top of the manifold is...

Merc 350 mag mpi HELP! 200°

Super hot meaning how hot? How hot is it where the rubber hose fits on? And you should take readings right after the boat comes off plane that will be the hottest it gets (usually). Idling is not a test esp if on the water hose/muffs not in the water. Remember it is the rubber exhaust hoses you...

    Exhaust Bellow

The reason why there is confusion here: OMC had the Cobra, and VP had the AQ drives The Cobra was designed to use the same cut out in the transom as the Merc drives unlike the OMC Stringer and the Volvo AQ drives. When they ran into financial trouble, VP bought into their sterndrive divison. VP...

Merc 350 mag mpi HELP! 200°

Technically speaking they are exhaust elbows. A riser is a spacer that goes between the manifold and elbow if you need more height on the exhaust to prevent the exhaust backing up into the cylinders. That depends on the static water line of the boat (how high the water is in the exhaust Y pipe...

Merc 350 mag mpi HELP! 200°

In those pix you appear to reading the temps of the exhaust manifolds not the engine. If that engine uses the warm manifold system they will be somewhat warmer than the engine because the manifolds don’t get cooling water till the engine thermostat opens. I’ve found that the best place to take...

    Exhaust Bellow

That’s the OMC Cobra version. It’s supposed to be like that to reduce back pressure. The VP version has holes in it too but smaller ones. You can use that with no problem.

I think I will go electric for my next new car ...

I tell my enlightened friends with electrics if they have lithium ion batteries you might not want to park that little green wonder in your garage. Here's my idea of a green vehicle....

Converting to carburetor from mpi 350 mag

Exactly If you know carbs you can keep the boat going for a LONG time for little money. EFI is nice for for cold starts & smooth running when cold other than that I don’t think the huge cost penalty of EFI is worth it. Don’t think that changing to a carb will add power. Best thing about...

Converting to carburetor from mpi 350 mag

If I were doing this (and I greatly prefer carbs for older boats, can’t be beat for cost of repair & maintenance) I’d be looking to sell off all the usable EFI stuff to defray the cost of conversion.

Running boat on land with no prop?

If you get the muffs I posted your trouble with running on the hose, will be finished. They are the best that I've tried. Here they are on my OMC Cobra, the way to tell they are working well is the amount of water that is exhausting from right in front of the large anode on the lower unit.

Converting to carburetor from mpi 350 mag

https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31745/2691/110 do you have this intake manifold? I think then you'd need a new 4 bbl intake for both engines, you can use a spread bore cast iron intake or aluminum square bore as long as its a marine unit, that gives you a choice of any 4bbl...
