    have you considered just raising the transom 2 inches if feasable for you. I did that several years ago for a Classic 50 mounted on an 18 inch transom. Worked out great.

    look for another deal... Me...I would keep away from any humpty dumpty stuff but opinions differ. Price may justify the purchase for the boat and trailer alone. Engine wise well it is coin flip.... the engine is 32 years old and lots of shops won't touch it if it ever needs repair...

    be careful with battery switches, never use wing nuts etc... ETEC EMM,s are extremely allergic to voltage spikes.... EMM killers

    if you replaced the same size grommet it should be ok ... work the top end ... rotate the fw to line up the drive shaft splines. try shifting to raise the shift rod as you push up can you see the upper grommet condition uop the exhaust housing.. is it in place properly. flip...

    shift rod link properly mated. ?? do you have a borescope to look up the exhaust housing to see if the grommet is in good condition. try a dab of grease on the water tube. try turning the FW while to match the drive shaft and PW head patience brings joy...

    just remove the prop... do not adjust the high speed in a barrel...even more so without a prop

    just measure both boots to frame and they should be similar. swap the coils to see if the problem follows the coil or not.
