What are good internet places to get vintage Evinrude parts?

I think Sea Way marine bought up a bunch of OMC stuff after the bankruptcy. NLA marine appears to get stuff from boats parted out in fresh water regions.

Risers - think I caught this just in time?

Interesting I never had that problem with my pre Vortec. Did the camshaft profile change that much when they went the Vortec cyl heads?

    Battery discharge. ...normal?

https://www.aeswave.com/parasitic-drain-tester-p9322.html I used this to track down a parasitic draw on our old ‘98 Jeep…

    Battery discharge. ...normal?

I think you have a parasitic draw in that a module is not going to sleep as it should. Even if you leave the battery switch on it should not go dead in a week’s time. I would take it to the dealer while it’s still under warrantee to investigate this. The auto bilge function should be directly...

What are good internet places to get vintage Evinrude parts?

NLA parts are not going to be found from most suppliers like Sierra et al, you need sources that dismantle old boats/engines and sell off what is still usable.

    Painting a boat trailer

I used the same stuff on my cast iron exhaust manifolds and it holds up well. Boat sits outside in cool damp winters and on a salt water mooring in summer…

    Carburetor Issues, Dripping Carbs...

I seem to wind up rebuilding my Q-Jet about every 6 seasons or so. After a few times it's easy.

    Mercruiser 233 Overheating--Out of Ideas

That’s exactly what I was about to say Kenny! Note that you can have close to normal compression test results and still have leaky head gaskets. I had that with mine then noticed a bit of water in the cyls. Also I’d make up a pair of clear hoses from the stat housing to the manifolds. Bubbles...

    Carburetor Issues, Dripping Carbs...

Dripping issues can be a needle valve not seating or sealing properly. After replacing the valve & seat turn the carb upside down & try to blow thru the inlet. You should not be able to if the needle valve is sealing. Do you have grit or crud in the fuel?

New valve cover gaskets and still leaking V6 4.3

Just wait till the steering actuator decides to leak. Now, THATS A MESS!!! My old 4.3 really doesn’t leak oil surprisingly.

    Mercruiser 8.2 w/Cats & Closed Cooling Question

True Western Europe depended on us for their security for the cold war and post cold war period and on Russia for nat gas & other resources. This allowed their economies to flourish while avoiding the true costs of security and energy independence. The "green agenda" so trumpeted in Europe...

Burned coil after upgrading to Pertronix

Have thought of the electronic conversion several times but in the end points work well enough and are not hard to replace when they act up. In all my years of driving cars with points I only had one breakdown due to bad points (1965 VW Bug when I was in college). Meanwhile we had to replace the...

    Mercruiser 8.2 w/Cats & Closed Cooling Question

Actually the real problem is the EPA and how these bureaucrats who are not elected can write regulations without any regard for cost benefit analysis WHAT SO EVER. Guess what World leaders are finally starting to learn the cost of the green “revolution”. Boris Johnson found out the hard way that...

Risers - think I caught this just in time?

True and both Merc & Volvo came up with ways to reduce that. Merc used a gasket designed to catch the water before it winds up at the bottom of the manifold exhaust passage and V/P used a vacuum relief valve to allow air into the exhaust to reduce the effect of vacuum created in the exhaust flow….

Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Unless you find the right older boat that has no cats, big engine compartment etc. A nice 26’ cruiser with a single big block and DP drive and large wide engine compartment. The way they design sport boats with I/Os today is just awful, all about looks and stupid “features” like transom walk...
