    In dash GPS speedo?

Maybe you could just replace the pick up for the pitot tube. I did that & cleaned out the hose for it and the Speedo follows my gps speed over 10 mph….

Trailer repair installed wrong disc actuator on 2 axle drum trailer

Read the link to ChampionTrailers that I posted above. The residual pressure valve is inside the master cyl. To remove it you’re basically taking the whole thing apart. What you’re referring to is the orifice (opening) in the fitting that you connect to the brake line. This has to be larger in a...

    1992 Cobra Outdrive Trim Sensor

Mine touches when the drive is about level, check to see if the arm has full travel. I’ve been using Sierra sending units & getting pretty good life out of them.

Trailer repair installed wrong disc actuator on 2 axle drum trailer

It’s not that they won’t work it’s that the response would be delayed and total braking force would be less than optimal. I don’t think the trailer companies would spend the extra $$ to design & build 2 different actuator master cyls for the same actuator if this wasn’t so…

Trailer repair installed wrong disc actuator on 2 axle drum trailer

Drum brake actuators use a check valve to maintain pressure in the wheel cylinders, so I'm not sure that a disc brake actuator (no check valve) will work with drum brakes. https://www.championtrailers.com/how-to-remove-a-residual-valve-from-a-master-cylinder/

    Dual battery shut off wiring

Just to add to that, the only thing that should get battery power with the switch OFF is the bilge pump/auto bilge switch. This is particularly important for boats left in the water in slips or moorings. I used to have my auto bilge switch hooked up to the common terminal and had to leave one...

    Dual battery shut off wiring

If you have the simple 1,2,1+2, & off switch you can alternate the use of batteries to make sure each one gets charged. I use #1 on odd days #2 on even days. With this system if you leave it on both yes it can cause one bad battery to drain the other. In this case I’d use both only if either...

    4.3 Carb v 4.3MPI

Just a caution: Both Merc & Volvo make parts for these throttle body & MPI systems go NLA after the boat is about 10 years old. With carbs this is not an issue. Just something to keep in mind if you buy older boats. I can get all the parts I need for a Quadrajet, that hasn’t been built since...

Bought a new long block and wondering about the coupling and gimbal bearing.

based on that you might not think so but I wonder how many amps the oil pressure safety switch is rated for? I have read of these switches being over loaded by the draw of the pump if a relay isn’t used…

    4.3 Carb v 4.3MPI

I think the main advantage of throttle body FI or port EFI is better cold starts and smoother running when cold. However as far as ease of repair & parts cost carbs are easier to deal with. You’re not having to track down intermittent electrical problems and deal with NLA fuel injection parts...

Bought a new long block and wondering about the coupling and gimbal bearing.

I agree with eliminating the second filter, especially with an electric pump any additional restrictions can cause problems, pumps can overheat, etc. The other things to check are the connections for the pump & the oil pressure safety switch, these are areas that can also cause intermittent...

    Steering actuator vibration

that shaking has been reported on a few Volvos, don't know what the actual cause was, I never had it on my old Cobra even with a worn out leaky steering actuator that I replaced last year. The older Bendix style ones were adjustable, just like the old units on the Corvette & Ford unibody...

Just acquired a 170 Horizon. Assembly required.

boat looks great and you look like you're having fun! Here's ours, it sits on a salt water mooring so I can't keep it as clean as most here can who trailer and bottom paint is a necessary evil. But, I don't have the hassles of trailering, only 2x a year and if a storm runs up the eastern...

    Steering actuator vibration

That's interesing! What may be happening is that when it starts in the first vid the engine is running rough shaking side to side, that might be causing the steering arm to move in the transom assembly which via the steering cable would move the shuttle valve in the steering actuator causing...

    Starter issue, possibly water related

If your motor is cranking (turning over) fast enough to start but no start your starter may be ok, for now at least but you may have gotten water in the distributor. Salt or fresh water? If salt and water got over the starter just go buy a new one now. If fresh if you dry it out it may still work
