    Know of a yard where the older boats like that are piled up.----Scrap----Nobody wants to repair an old boat.-----Many folks love to " show off " the new boat they could afford / finance.----It is not cool to be seen in an old boat.

    The Mexican fellow ----The ----" manual "----- calls for a special tool to drive the bearing in from the top to the correct depth.----Hopefully you measured the position before you pulled it out.

    1966 Johnson 9.5hp (MQ-12A)

    Just did a test on a 1969 model 9.5.---Been hanging outside on a rack for 6 / 6 years or more.------Removed sparkplugs.----Installed a good gauge.----got 65 / 70 PSI on both.----Motor arrived with spark issues way back then.

    Starter fluid everytime....

    You would NEVER , ever damage that motor using a little bit of starter fluid.----Oil / lubrication / mixing gas and oil is just not well understood. these days.

    You have to learn to work on these simple motors yourself.-----At $2.00 / minute at many shops , you can't afford it.----And one shop I know of is at $3.00/ minute.-----Mind you their clientele charges $10 / minute for their time.-----And it is difficult to find folks factory trained on these...

    Starter fluid everytime....

    Nonsense-----When a 2 stroke is stopped there is oil all over the bearings and between the piston and cylinder bore.----How does a whiff of quick start instantly make that wash away on a cold engine?.----I have stated it many times.----Oil and lubrication in 2 strokes is not well understood.
