Go on to Cliffs site & post up the question on his forum. It’s a pretty active forum.

    SX-M Second Lower Anode?

I’ve been thinking of adding those collar anodes to my Cobra, 20+ 6 month seasons in salt water.

Mercruiser 5.7 wanting to stall at idle after driving around

We had one on our 1975 Olds Delta 88 350. It had the hot air choke, don't think it had the electric heater though. Never had to have that one apart and that engine ran great the 15+ years we had it. I recall growing up in the '70s and hearing that Quadrajets and Autolite 4300s were too complex...

Mercruiser 5.7 wanting to stall at idle after driving around

Mine's definitely original to the boat, a marine unit. A dead give away is the overflow connection nipple on the left side of the carb body. If the carb doesn't have this, it might not really be a marine unit.

Yep when I start it up it smells just like a 1966 Chevy back there. Which, it kind of is!

Cliffs is one of the well known Quadrajet experts, he sells better quality parts than some suppliers. Also has a rebuild/restoration program. I bought an OMC/BRP rebuild kit and it was just a repackaged Sierra kit

If you got it from Cliff with the # on the carb it is likely right

Also when you install the needle valve in the float arm, make sure that little clip is not in one of the holes but on the side. If it’s in the hole, that can cause the needle valve to jam and flood the engine. As far as the variations best bet is to use the Rochester carb # on the side of the...

    spring vapor lock?

Bad elbows & manifolds are the #1 cause of inboard engine failure in saltwater. If you have a Merc I’d consider upgrading to the better dry joint system. A bit more $$ but better design. Still have to replace regularly in salt but the risk of leaky gaskets letting water in is much less...

    spring vapor lock?

Did it get as high as the starter? If so might want to replace.

    spring vapor lock?

Right if you see rust on the outside it could be leaking on the inside into a cyl via an open exhaust valve. That if left unattended over the winter can lock up an engine.

Has anyone seen or heard of a trailer tire doing this?

I think jacking the trailer and rotating the tires every few months can help because what I noticed with the last set I replaced was that the majority of cracks was in the spot where the tire sat for over a year when I was making major repairs. So now every 2 months I jack it up & spin the tire...

That can also be fuel boiling in the bowl from high temps. The older pre Vortec has a heated intake and the QJets used a thick insulator gasket. With that gasket I have not had a problem with fuel percolating in the carb

    carter mech fuel pump

I would just use whichever gasket matches the flange on the pump/block better. There is oil in that area so you don’t want a leak there

    carter mech fuel pump

I used a bit of Permatex Aviation on the threads. Not sure about the 2 gasket question don’t recall if mine came that way have to think back.

A common problem on the QJet is the idle air tubes get clogged, these can be carefully cleaned out with carb cleaner a very thin wire & compressed air. Cliff has instructions in his forum on his website on how to do this. Do you have any nozzle drip at idle from the venturis? Take a look.

Or consumers being cheapskates discouraging quality tire companies from making consumer/recreational trailer tires at all.

Two Layers of 3/4 CSM versus One Layer of 1.5 CSM

I used stainless L brackets to secure Mahagony cross pieces over my tank. Supports the hatch cover very well. This was done way back in 2006/2007.
