1990 90 hp Mercury. Beeping when key turned on.

According to my manual, the beep when the key is first turned on is a check to let you know the alarm works. Just a short beep then turns off to let the operator know the alarm is good. This is my first oil injection motor, besides an older Johnson that I knew had injection issues. My...

2005 Mercury 90 hp 2 stroke oil backflowing into fuel separator

While my motor runs great with no issues the oil mix draining back thru the system is normal. Mine has a clear fuel filter in the fuel line and I noticed blue gas in that filter. As the motor sits, the fuel slowly drains back thru the line...basic physics, liquid flowing to the lowest point in...

Dual Battery ... Wiring fail or I just don't understand?

That also depends on how low the charge is on your battery. If battery has only dropped 20% then a 1 amp charge will work, but if your battery is down 40% then a higher amp charge is needed to bringbthe battery back to 100%. The trickle charger is more of a maintainer than to recover a battery...

    Antifreez

I used normal antifreeze for years but always trapped it when draining and flushed it before heading to the lake. Better rust protection with regular antifreeze, but you must handle/ dispose of it properly !!!

    Deadman Switch?

As long as needed to connect one of the handles in the motor clamp to a handle, thru the transom support or wherever you can attach the other end of your safety cable. I usually add a snap of some sort to each end of my safety cable/ chain. As far as the safety stop for the motor, I have saw...

Motor oil in lower unit oil

When ever I flush a lower unit, I use kerosene, not acetone. Kerosene is actually an oil so no harm will be done, acetone can damage any seal it comes in contact with. While the lower unit is filled with kerosene, turn the motor over either by hand or with electric starter, just dont let it...
