New valve cover gaskets and still leaking V6 4.3

Yes you probably can reuse the gaskets yes put RTV on the rubber grommet for the bolts - basically use RTV anywhere where it could leak. Hadn't thought of what dodge mentions you could have slow oil return to crank case and oil accumulates on top of heads at High rpm. To test remove the...

New to me Livingston not performing at its best

Ok this is a power cat then ? You may check the motor height. My brother has a 17 ft Twin Vee Power cat w/ 60 hp yammaha- original dealer set motor way too low cav plate was buried

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

Realize they are a holley thing. I was just wondering more air in bleed = leaner mix? Reason I'm asking - I had to do some work on the idle tubes on my GTO tripower (Rochester 2 jet) to enlarge the openings the gas gets sucked up. Not sure if these are emulsion tubes or not. Not quite as much...

New valve cover gaskets and still leaking V6 4.3

Yes check for flatness. Clean them off get new gaskets. Put RTV on both sides of the gaskets/around bolts and snug them down. Let the RTV set up overnight

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

I've never seen any O2 sensors with smaller thread bungs, maybe it exists somewhere. To my knowledge edelbrocks don't have tweakable air bleeds or emulsion bleeds (at least not without drilling) - what affect do they have on mixture?

5.7L rebuild and upgrade to vortec heads

The only thing u can do is a leak down test to see if it is rings valves or both . That coupled with oil analysis to see if bearing material is present can inform u if your short block is good enough to accept new heads or you need a new long block

5.7L rebuild and upgrade to vortec heads

115 is getting down there. 130-140 is decent to good. might be worth a leak down on the low cylinder if its valves and you upgrade the heads anyways problem solved Unless u have bearing issues.

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

Not surprised that you have to go fatter on a smaller displacement engine. I would suspect you get less strong of a vacuum signal in the booster and pull less fuel. Mich motorz 1409 on the 4.3 , 5.0, and 5.7 partial engines. the air flap ( maybe not officially eddy Terminology) allows the carb...

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

On my gto i used a clamp on bung that goes over the exhaust pipe, but they were rusty pos pipes nit what u have but it would save you pulling it to weld in a bung. Needs to be upstream of water dump in…

5.7L rebuild and upgrade to vortec heads

Do an oil analysis as suggested . Blackstone labs was like $40. Do a compression and or leakdown test. If cared fir you should be fine, if not cared fir u know what you’re dealing with

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

This is the sensor plate goes between manifold and elbow, you need 4 x longer bolts (6.75" long), plus a sensor of your choice sensor plate- https://www.michiganmotorz.com/o2-spacer-stock-mercury-riser-wet-joint Sensor Kit -...

    Prop hitting anode

I also think the TP 4 blade props used two different blade designs on the same prop. SO maybe OP has a 4 blade. OP hasnt been back so looks like we are more interested than he/she is

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

Out of the box aka stock 1409 has the following: .098 primary jets, .068 x .047 step up rods with orange (5" vacuum) springs, .101 secondary jets. I landed on : Stock jets (.098/.101) .065 x.042 metering rods (1 step richer both cruise and power) Pink step up springs (7" vac) .033" accelerator...

Does 1988 bayliner have a kill switch?

It would be on your shifter- My 1990 sea ray did not have one. Do you have 12 v to positive side of coil when key is in run? If you have point it will be more like 9 v as it will use a resistor to make points live longer. If you do have points when was last time they were serviced?

    Air Fuel Ratio Carb Tuning

So I was able to get this installed a few weeks ago and try things out. Only install issues I had was needing 1" longer bolts for the elbow as this 1" plate was sandwiched in...(stock is 5.75" long needed a 7" and trimmed off 1/4"), and the o2 sensor sits so close to the top of the manifold I...

New to me Livingston not performing at its best

You are low on rpm so need to go down in pitch like a 9" pitch should get you another 400 or so rpm which is still kind of low. If they make a 7" pitch do that as it should raise you 800 rpm vs the 11" Yes it is common that manufactures use the same power head with smaller carb or restrictor...

5.7 Vortec Runs Great On Land but Bogs Under Load in Water

Yeah not 100 % sure edlebrock calls it a step up piston. Power piston may be a hold over from my rochester 2 jet/ mercarb days … either way we are talking about the same thing.

5.7 Vortec Runs Great On Land but Bogs Under Load in Water

I noticed on my vortec that the electrode discoloration is not consistent around the entire electrode, which is kind of what i see here . I get more of a brownish, and im running a tad on rich side (13.25-13.5 afr at cruise , 12.0-12.5 at wot)

Help me identify this part & our issue

Here is a parts breakdown, https://www.marineengine.com/parts/mercruiser-sterndrive-parts/30l-mpi-ec/1a072812-up/cylinder-head-and-rocker-cover Looks like it is a vent to the manifold - sucks blow by into intake. Entirely possible if this is popping out it is creating a vacuum leak that lets...

    Bellows ?

I think its more personal preference, I have no personal experience using the tube but I could see on plane and trimmed up it making more noise, probably depends on what engine how you trim it etc. I can say this my boat with torn exhaust bellows was no louder than non torn so I can't see it...
