I was never asked to produce a Driver's License, at any of the Dealerships. You can own a car even if you can't drive it.

Welcome to iboats Perhaps a bit of effort on the Purchasers part, to learn these things before boat shopping would be a good Idea, and they will remember things much better Is a Car Dealer, required to explain how to drive and what the Rules of the Road are, when they sell a Car?

    Dry Firing Outboard

It takes some time to fill the Block on the Inline sixes before water came out of the Teltale, about 6 or 7 seconds. Some outboards had the Teletale located before the water got to the Block, so there it would be faster.

    Dry Firing Outboard

Do what you Want, it is your engine, and pocketbook. When the engine is tilted up, the is still a bit of water left in the housing, and in the water tube, these do take a bit of time to drain. If the engine was never lowered when out of the water or shaken too much, there still might be traces...

Deep cycle battries and standard car battries

While the Optima looks cool, they have been a bigger Headache than they are worth. If you ever leave the lights on at the Airport, and come home to a dead Battery, boosting will start the Car and the Alternator will keep it running, however the Battery will not accept a Charge. You have to go...

    Dry Firing Outboard

I guess the only way some will learn not to dry run the Engine, is having to buy a new Powerhead.... No Sympathy for them

If it a Brown Stripe, then it would be an 85, as the Transom Bracket shown wasn't introduced on the V6s till then. The only other year Brown was used was 1984.

If the same displacement is used in both motors, quite likely.

    2015 yamaha 75hp too a 115hp

Yes, unbolt the 75 and replace it with a 115. Even if the Displacement is the Same, there will plenty of Differences to make the additional HP. Adding HP at the Top, pretty much results in a Drop in Low Rpm Torque, so even though the Boat would have more HP, the holeshot will be slower.

Deep cycle battries and standard car battries

Deep Cycle Batteries are not designed to repeatedly provide Heavy Current supplies for more than very short periods. I suppose several hooked together in Parallel, would overcome that, then the issue of Equally Charging them configured like that will rear its Head.

    Over prop? How to know?

You are referring to the E4ME Q-Jet It had nothing to do with the Idle Needles, those were still on the Throttle Body, usually hidden by covers. The Computer was controlling the Primary Metering Rods using a Solenoid, in response to what the O2 Sensor(s) was telling it

Deep cycle battries and standard car battries

The Marine Batteries are a bit more Rugged than the standard Auto/Truck versions. Starting Batteries and Deep Cycle Batteries are engineered for different purposes and operation. While a Deep Cycle can often put out enough Amperage to crank an Engine for a short period, it can't do it for an...

    77 Johnson 140hp

Which Crestliner? I had a 79 Crusader 550 open bow, I a 84 115 put on it. A couple of years earlier I had a 15ft Invader, which the Hull was a Flip of the fore mentioned Boat. Both boats were rated for 100hp, but I had the Dealer put a bit more on them.

    77 Johnson 140hp

It is 45 yrs old. 77 was the first year of the 140, and actually the best of them, it has the most finely Tuned Exhaust, the Crankcase Stuffers, and the Highest Compression Heads they used on the 140. Later years had slightly less compression(likely to enable it to survive on the Garbage...

You mention a Cracked Coil. Replace it, see if the Spark Jumps a 3/8" gap on every Plug Wire? Might be a Fuel Tank venting issue.

    Evinrude Big Twin 35

My Dad had the Electric Start version back in 1972. I haven't seen one since then, and we don't have any Pictures of it, but I certainly remember what it looked like. The Connector was to make it easier to install/remove the Engine as no Wires had to be connected/disconnected under the Cowl...
