    Having many boats over many years, some boats just throw up more water than others do. Shape of hull, length of motor leg, distance motor is from transom etc. Lots of factors. My current Sylvan throws up more than my other small boats until you run above 25 mph.

    Might very well be reworked, a good propsmith will make it look like new, however those I have had reworked have always been restamped with correct info. So your could be anything...have it checked at a prop shop to be sure your numbers are correct

    You can also run kerosene thru the fill cap to help flush out the oil pan. Dont start the engine with the kerosene in there, but in many old car engines, I have cranked them over numerous times to mix the kerosene with the contaminated oil so it drains easier.     Well my 16' Sylvan weighs over 900 lbs with the 4 batteries, then add 15 gallons of fuel and all the gear...my 40 Merc does 29-30 with two adults...power trim and the right prop makes a big difference !!!
