    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

Id start with the timing verify it is going into base mode set the initial timing, take it out of base make sure you are getting 30-32 at 3 k rpm or so. Based on comments here I think you didn't have it in base mode and likely are missing some advance. If you cant get it in base mode rev it to...

Yes pumping throttle sets the choke and should spit some gas in thru accelerator pump to richen mixture

Mercruiser 3.0 diagnosis / serial number decode

You have to set it by pumping the throttle otherwise it stay in the open position Also no fuel comes out the accelerator pump nozzles unless you pump the throttle. This just over comes the momentary loss of vacuum across boosters when throttle is opening by squirting gas in. if you can get it...

disconnect it and test 5 ohms is a lot of resistance but could ground out the ignition

Mercruiser 3.0 diagnosis / serial number decode

If on starting fluid you don't get it to cough I'd say you don't have spark or timing is off or no compression If you have decent spark you can keep it running by dribbling gas down the carb. Just gotta be careful in case of a back fire.....

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

So you originally had the Merc Thunderbolt V on this , didn't get the performance you were expecting and swapped in a Delco EST ( normally both are very good systems). On the Delco EST you are on your third ignition module? I have seen postings here that the aftermarket modules cause issues like...

Usually mounted on the engine itself small 1/2 qt translucent bottle. I didn't see one in your picture of your engine. Most Gen one drives (88 vintage) do not have one. Just open the drain and then vent plugs, when empty fill from bottom, when full put vent plug back in before removing's lube...

    Computer/Diagnostic/Starting Help Needed for 2000 Kawasaki 1100DI

I have heard of stators doing funny things like this - maybe you can research how to test the stator and go from there. If you can find a factory manual likely will show how to do so. Likewise sending the EMM out to be checked might be an easy way to rule that out shouldn't cost much or take...

    Computer/Diagnostic/Starting Help Needed for 2000 Kawasaki 1100DI

Yes especially if all you have to do is reset the throttle position sensor like I did.... unfortunately there is no other way on more modern engines if you need to check fault codes. On my seadoo it looses the throttle position zero point over time so the fuel mapping is off. I was fouling...

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

Both the TB and Delco he references using don't have to have a knock sensor disconnected , just need to be put in base mode to set initial timing

Mercruiser 4.3 EFI Serpentine Belt Replacement

I don't think it does make a difference buying parts should be 100% interchange. I would strongly urge that for things like water pump impellers and bellows that you use OEM merc items, very common them on this forum that the OEM items last longer. Overall the SEI is a common lower cost (vs OEM...

    Mercruiser 5.7 won’t make power

Agreed but he also said he replaced the TB ignition with a delco est to no avail so would assume two different systems would not not advance... To OP- might be worth verifying balancer hasn't slipped verify indicated TDC is actually tdc ...

    Engine Misfire!

Normally a 3.o will have one filter in fuel pump bowl and another in carb inlet. Both are small. You can follow the fuel line back to tank and see if someone added a canister fuel filter to it. If its only happening at WOT probably best to measure fuel pressure at WOT. Could be a plugged fuel...

    Engine Misfire!

Ok if you just bought it some basic maintenance is likely needed what do spark plugs look like ? agree likely fuel related, would inspect and change fuel filter, clean and rebuild carb, inspect cap and rotor. has water pump impeller engine oil gear lube been changed? Inspect bellows for cracks
