BTV Bayliner Single Axle Trailer - Over-run / Inertia Brakes?

What about brake systems used Australia? I think I recall see cable operated brakes on Au spec trailers that used discs and do have a parking brake function..... https://www.adelaidetrailersales.com.au/product/add-disk-brakes/ If they can have these in Aust why not in the UK? both use cables...

    Submersible trailer lights

Yep, best thing I ever did on my trailer was those Tecniq sealed LED lights. Installed them in 2015 and not one problem since, before that EVERY season fiddling with those old fashioned lights! https://tecniqinc.com/trailer/

    Which carpet glue?

Where I am the climate is humid/damp much of the year and my boat and many others are on mooings all season, we use mooring covers but I don't want anything at all laying on the deck to trap moisture. Boats are gonna get wet no matter what you do.

    Which carpet glue?

I could never put carpet in any open boat with a wood cored deck ever again. It holds moisture and causes rot and is the death of most open boats. Use instead a marine deck paint with non skid mixed in. I had this done to the deck in our boat when I replaced it 15 years ago. It is still...

4.3 engine mounted raw water pump inquiry

Agreed I have not had problems with impeller failure at all with my OMC Cobra drive and I’ve been changing the impeller every 3 seasons (even then there is only minimal wear). I think if anything drive mounted impellers are less prone to failure because the drive is always submerged in the...

    454 Lifter Adjustment

For a stuck valve you are looking for one or more that are lower than the rest...here are the old heads I removed from my 4.3 when I had the blown head gaskets back in 2016, if you look closely you can see a couple valves that are lower than the rest...this was due to water in a couple cyls, not...

    454 Lifter Adjustment

On a marine inboard with a bent pushrod like that I'd be thinking of checking all the valves to see if any are stuck and also check the exhaust manifolds to see of water is leaking back in the exhaust ports.

    Mercruiser ECM replacement?

To the OP simply lift the wiring harnesses and count the # of bolts holding down the intake on both sides. I think you will find 6 on each side. This answers the question of Vortec vs Pre Vortec but the issue of flat tappet vs roller cam can only be answered by the block casting #, or removing...

    Mercruiser ECM replacement?

I’m still seeing it at an angle like my old pre Vortec… I think that given the difficulty in finding the correct ECM a carb engine would be easier. The OP might have to find a shop that caters to American classic & muscle cars to get a marine carb set up right. Seeing as how it’s a Merc an...

    Mercruiser ECM replacement?

The one on the right is for sure a Vortec as you said; what makes me think the OP’s is a pre Vortec is the tin cover for the choke stove. Nothing like that on a Vortec. We ate like forensic detectives trying to figure this out lol!

    Mercruiser ECM replacement?

It’s a pre Vortec for sure like I thought. First the Vortec bolts go straight down not at a angle and second I see one of the extra bolts near where the choke stove would have been if it had the Quadrajet. You can see the tin cover that covers the choke stove opening with a bolt in it and below...

    Mercruiser ECM replacement?

A better pic of the intake with the wiring harness not covering the bolts would also help..

    Compression test 180 and 160

Compression test results can vary for a lot of reasons, engine should be warmed up throttle valve open. Normally the 4.3 tests from 160-170 in my experience, but gauges can also be off. Mine has never been lower than 160 or more than 175. Carbon build up can also raise comp test results. As long...

Question about water circulation in closed system

For your closed cooling system you need to make sure the raw water side of the heat exchanger is drained, as well as the raw water hoses feeding it, the impeller, and exhaust elbows (if you have a full system the manifolds are on the closed side but the exhaust elbows are on the raw water side...

Yep and when they are all dried out I like to coat the outside of the connector with dielectric grease.
