    Purchasing in this market

All depends on how much of a hole your money is burning in your pocket. If the 'extra' cost to buy now doesn't bother you go ahead enjoy the upgrade. Personally I would wait but I'm a tight azzz... with a kid in college....

Has anyone self-changed the trim sensors on a 3.0 XL Alpha One drive?

You can get in there I think you need a funny wrench or wobble extension @achris - didn't you talk about a modified tool to do so? here is a video doing it

    Bellhousing pivot bolt issues....

You really need to apply the heat to the bellhousing not the Pins. The pin threads into the bellhousing would heat that around the pivot point

Bravo drive is hard to shift into reverse?

As long as you are doing that check your lower for corrosion. I think by 07 they were better than the earlier B3's but there is a corrosion potential with these drives. No sense putting a new upper on a corroded lower.

Has anyone self-changed the trim sensors on a 3.0 XL Alpha One drive?

Depends on your skill level. Yes definitely doable. I did this as part of a bellows replacement last weekend. Its not hard , just tedious. I deal job for skinny young guys... Personally I would wait until you need bellows work, if the trim limit switch is bad you can jumper it out to have the...

Bravo drive is hard to shift into reverse?

Absolutely, just depends on how an extra $2k fits into your finances. Its a couple hour job to remove drive replace the upper and reinstall you'd be back on the water quicker with less risk.

Rochester 2 jet running rich before and after rebuild

Gotta remember these carbs are old, Rochester 2jet for automotive stopped in the early 80's, Marine/industrial was done by 1990, which is why merc started with the Mercab. Biggest issue is finding a good core. If I recall there are only two sizes of 2 jets small and large base. Yours should...

    Breather hose

I think 32 or 32a are the parts for the hose https://www.marineengine.com/parts/mercruiser-sterndrive-parts/140-gm-181-il4-19721978/3332138-thru-5157668/fuel-pump-fuel-filter-and-carburetor

Rochester 2 jet running rich before and after rebuild

This is the one I used on my Pontiac Tripower Holley 12-804 - it is a 1-4 psi unit. I had trouble with the gauge which was a summit liquid filled gauge, come to find out that the pressure indicated changes with temp of the gauge, so I had to set it when cold then ignore it... once it was warm...

Water in oil and exhaust manifold...HELP!!

Replace the manifolds and risers quickly, get it running and change the oil/filter repeatedly until it runs clear. Biggest issue is if the exhaust valves rusted due to water which would show up on a compression test. How was it winterized ? I assume this is a new issue and you've had the boat...

Am I missing a step in gear lube swap?

That's correct only when reservoir is low or empty, drive would still be full. Nice design vs the gen I where if your input shaft seal goes you fill the bellows with oil and your upper runs dry...

    Volvo Penta SX Prop ID

the Revolution 4 comes in even pitch increments as well so 19 or 20 would probably do you fine. If you see Vensura or Offshore used I would try that but be more inclined to try a 21" given the size of your boat. Since you are currently propped perfect at upper end of range I think you'd find a...

As lou said this isn't normal most likely the hold down clamp for distributor is loose. Set the timing with a timing light and tighten clamp. I believe you will have thunderbolt ignition which needs to be put into base mode to set timing

Rochester 2 jet running rich before and after rebuild

I would send your carb out to a place like mikes carbs and have them rebuild it. If you have a vacum leak usually you end up needing to fatten up the mixture screws to get it to idle at all. On my Rochester 2 jets I run like 3-3.5 lbs of fuel pressure. If you are confident it s a good...
