    I Need a Mooring Cover

On our boat it is 2 pieces, the bow cover and the cockpit cover. Not hard to put on, just takes about 5 min. I do it on the mooring by myself every time I use the boat. Never left it uncovered. The benefits is your interior lasts much longer and also when storms come it keeps most of the water...

    I Need a Mooring Cover

I had a custom bow and cockpit cover made for our F/W H-200 way back in 2003 and it does keep most of the water out. They need to be really cleaned well and re-waterproofed yearly. Sunbrella fabric really lasts.

1 exhaust manifold hot/ the other cool

I agree I find Volvo model #s and parts finding frustrating. The old OMC system was much simpler. I like Marine Engine . Com for parts

1 exhaust manifold hot/ the other cool

IBoats links to the Volvo Penta factory store if this is a VP powered boat and you want new. If used then eBay. If a Merc boat you can use Crowley marine or Marine engine

    Perplexing electrical issue

What you have is the engine harness, you need the boats wiring harness as well. The fuse box should be marked is it not?

1 exhaust manifold hot/ the other cool

Well to start you should inspect and probably replace the impeller. Then take off the thermostat housing and make sure all the ports in it are open and the thermostat is opening at the right temp and opens far enough. Lastly I’d remove the exhaust elbows and make sure the cooling passages are...

Volvo Penta 4.3GL-C bogs and surges when hot

If it sat for a couple years it may be time to go through the carb; might need a cleaning and re-assembly with new gaskets. The problem is that evaporated fuel leaves behind deposits that clog jets and passages. Same thing with small engines. The more you use them the better they run.

    U-joint seized into gimbal bearing

In addition to salt water laying in there from a bellows leak as the original cause. I'd start looking around on ebay for a Volvo gimble housing, not sure if that can be fixed by welding but doesn't hurt to ask. I bought a lot of good fresh water OMC Cobra spare parts on ebay, including a whole...

    U-joint seized into gimbal bearing

That’s probably why it leaked….not enough material for it to seal

89- 5.8l OMC with Holley 4160 flooding problem

Maybe you can source that power valve somewhere and keep your old one for a spare. While boat mechanics can be totally booked, consider restoration shops that cater to classic American cars. Back in the day the most common carbs we had were Rochesters (GM products) Carter (Mopar products now the...

89- 5.8l OMC with Holley 4160 flooding problem

Too bad you couldn’t get a Holley rebuild kit there here in the US they are very common and cost about $45 if I recall. I tried a Holley on mine and had similar problems it turned out the carb (brand new) was not assembled correctly. I actually went back and rebuilt the original 30 year old...

89- 5.8l OMC with Holley 4160 flooding problem

the box makes it look like you bought a new carb rather than just replace the power valve. If one cylinder isn’t firing I’d go back and look very carefully at the distributor cap, rotor (even if new can be defective) and I’d check the ohms on the plug wires against specs. Yes it could be spark...

    U-joint seized into gimbal bearing

True they do. With OBs you don’t want to buy an old one because major repairs are very expensive due to very high parts cost. If you repower an inboard with a new engine if you add closed cooling it could last longer than an OB, due to the lack of internal corrosion. That’s what eventually...

    U-joint seized into gimbal bearing

If you’re going to keep the boat get a drive jack & an alignment tool to make your life easy. This way you can avoid problems

Mercruiser 3.0L mercarb 2 barrel Help!!!

Yes where the fuel line connects to the carb. Just don't get a moutful of gas. Not good for you! PS that is a simple carb, we had a Rochester 2GV on our '72 Chevrolet 350 V8, it should not be hard to set it up right. Now a Quadrajet, that's good deal more complex, I've had mine apart a few times.

Mercruiser 3.0L mercarb 2 barrel Help!!!

You can test (carefully) the pressure put out by the mechanical pump to make sure it’s adequate and then if so make sure the carb float is working as designed, allowing the bowl to fill with fuel then shutting off the supply when full so it doesn’t flood. A quick test; remove carb dump the fuel...
