    No Fire To Plugs

Yellow wires are for the charging system. Perhaps the voltage regulator is mis-wired or bad, causing a short to ground. The diodes in the VR can short to ground.

    1975 850 powerhead on a 1980 80 hp midestion and foot.

The gearcases will interchange. What is wrong with the midsection? Not sure if the midsections will interchange, but they might. Ignition systems are not swappable.

1980 80 hp l4 wont stay running and smoke rolling out of carbs

Did you check timing? That is a 4 ignition coil motor right? The idle pickup timing should be 0-9*ATDC. Max spark advance s/b 21* BTDC. You might clean the main jet and the idle passages. "junk in the bottom of the carbs " could easily clog those. At 1800 RPM, the idle mixture adjustments...

    Mercury 115 hp not starting

Motor won't crank or won't start? Which solenoids did you change?

    No ignition power

No worries, it will likely break again. You do have tow insurance, right?

No start after rewiring alternator 4.3 Mercruiser

Gee, with a battery switch, you don't need no stinkin ACR.

    Wiring issue 4.3 mercruiser

It sounds like you have +12VDC on the ground wire of the stereo, when the ign key is turned on. Perhaps there is a relay on the stereo ground circuit, that is energized when the key is on?

    "Lettering+Kit" for registration numbers

Gee, I buy them at Wallyworld. About $8 each, avail in black and white.

    sensors

The way the oil reservoirs are supposed to work is that the external reservoir keeps the motor-mounted reservoir full. So in theory the only time the motor mounted reservoir gets low, is when the external reservoir is empty. So you only need a sensor on the motor-mounted reservoir. Of course...

No start after rewiring alternator 4.3 Mercruiser

Sam, Diodes like in Battery Isolators always had a voltage drop when charging the secondary battery. Has that been solved?

    Can I use a Yamaha 115 2-stroke prop on a Suzuki DF140?

If the prop has a pressed in hub, you should be able to look up the prop and see if it fits both engines. You may need a new thrust hub and locking washers/cotter pins. If the prop finder says it won't fit, you can still try it. I was able to use a Mercury V6 prop on a Johnson V6 motor, by...

No start after rewiring alternator 4.3 Mercruiser

An ACR is likely their version of a battery combiner. A battery combiner is a continuous duty solenoid and some electronics to control the solenoid. The motor will charge one battery until it is full then the solenoid will close combining the batteries for further charging. When charging...

    No ignition power

My '88 4.3LX MerCruiser had a red reset button on the starboard side of the motor. It was pretty visible. If you have one, you should be able to find it. A starter could draw a whole lot of current if the motor was binding. You might turn it over with a wrench and see how hard it is. I had...

    PVC stringers?

Polyester resin sticks to pressure treated wood very well, as long as it is dry. I like it because it takes a long time to rot, after it gets wet, unlike soft non pressure treated wood. Some may say that a properly built boat will not have wet wood. If so, why do we need to replace wet...

No start after rewiring alternator 4.3 Mercruiser

OK, then why rewire alternator to charge house batteries first? That directive does suggest a priority for charging batteries, and I think it is the wrong one. If your house batteries get low on charge, but your starting battery is fully charged, at least you can get home.

    Tachometer

Your tachometer needs power ground and signal wire to function. Power and ground come from the ignition switch. The tach should zero when the ign is switched on, engine not running. If not, check power and ground supply to tach. The signal comes from the voltage regulator or rectifier...

    dual battery

Not sure that is called a 5 way switch. Connect the negatives of the batteries together, and to the motor. Connect battery 1 positive to the battery switch terminal 1, and battery 2 positive to switch terminal 2. The common terminal of the battery switch connects to the motor.

No start after rewiring alternator 4.3 Mercruiser

Good plan (actually stupid plan). Now you can use your fully charged house batteries to listen to the stereo, make drinks etc, at the end of the day while waiting for a tow 'cause the starting battery wasn't charged. Not sure I agree with Blue Sea on that one.

Pressed in hub - remove or find washers?

Tab Washer 14-816629Q AKA spider washer. I expect this to be widely available. Splined WASHER 12-31211Q03 Not all props need this. Some have it attached to the prop itself. Likely you will need to go to a prop shop or a Merc dealer for this. The flo torque thrust washer (under the prop)...

    Bottom Paint

Depends on the paint and the environment and length of the time of immersion. If the paint is ablative, it could be multi-season. The cheaper ablatives are one season only. It also depends on the temperature and therefore the speed of growth of the stuff. I have gone to an anti-slime...
