To decarbon or not to decarbon ?

Freeing up the rings does make a difference. One the better 2 stroke oils(XD-50 is one) will go a long way in keeping carbon buildup low. I know I going to get feedback that any TCW-3 oil is fine. Well XD-50 isn't TCW-3 certified, neither is XD-100. But both of these oil far exceed the Spec, are...

Some people just shouldn't own a boat!

If you are referring to the one with the buffoon looking where he's been, his Charlie foxtrot numbers were visible when I lightened up the original image in PS. Here's one of the Lake Lice getting hauled over by Fish and Wildlife for exceeding the 12 km/hr speed limit in Moonlight Bay

76 mercury outboard water coming from spark plug

Here was my 84 115 getting a new cover in 87. On a 76 merc, the pee hole would be on the starboard side of the engine near the rear. On my engine you can see the hose that feeds the pee hole going to the top of the block. Some older engines had the pee hole feed on the water jacket cover.

    Boat will not plane

First of all, are all the engine drains closed properly? Are all the hoses clamped tight? Was the boat dry(drained with nose high and drain plug out) before you first took it out? the 260 on the engine refers to HP. Most 260s historically have been 5.7L(350), only the past 15 or so years have...

Here is an example of not to support a hull on a hoist I rode in this boat in 1982, I took the picture last August. It looks pretty good for a 36 or 37 year old boat

Lower unit heavy duty or standard

Here is a Prop chart for the V4 80hp. since all the V4s from 1960 - 1968 with standard gear case had the same 23:20 gearing, with exception of the 100 hp, the rpm to mph ratio would hold true for any of the V4s with a 4000 - 5000 rpm range. For the 1968 65 and 85 hp the shaded areas need to be...

EZ Lube system.... keep blowing inner wheel bearing seal

If this is how the EZ Lube system works, it shouldn't be forcing grease out the back. Maybe the seals are being installed reversed?
