    The prop in the 4th picture is a " through the hub " and totally wrong for your motor.-----Where are you looking for a prop ??----This should not be difficult in my opinion.

    Lack of maintenance.----Many folks do not realize that most outboards require a new impeller about every 5 years.------Quality of the oil.-----Wrong pitch prop for the size of boat and load.-----Sorry , most folks think that if a motor starts , barks and roars that nothing can be wrong.

    That is a 1960 or 61 model.----Not much if anything will fit on a 1977 model 25 HP, some nuts & bolts maybe.

    That high revving tiny prop and pointy lower unit were not efficient.-----But it allowed motor to rev up quicker until prop started to bite as speed increased.

    I have done my own boring at friends workshop.----Cost me $25 / hole + set of honing stones and my time for the work.----Pistons / rings and gaskets.----Most bearings can be re-used based on my experience !

    Had a panic call from a dealer.-----Looking for a rebuilt block.----Did the job for way less that what you are spending.---Dealer gave me an extra bunch of beer tokens as well.

    My lawnmower ( 2 stroke Lawnboy ) fired up on the first pull this spring.----Left outside under snow all winter.

    $2500 and you are doing the work yourself ??-----Way too much in my opinion.----Many times the pins just slide into the new pistons.-----Heat the old pistons to make the pins fall out !

    The 84 model 25 has the older split gearcase.-----The 85 model 25 has the through hub exhaust according to parts book.

    Those cylinder walls are in AWFUL condition.----Take this motor apart or shop for another motor.
