efi to carb swap. fresh air to engine?

The main thing is to draw air from the lowest part of the bilge to avoid fumes build up there. The blower does that if properly installed but vents allowing air in Help the exchange of air...

efi to carb swap. fresh air to engine?

Yep a number of carbed boats were set up with the transom vents versus the more traditional gunnel mounts. Keep in mind that the vertical surface of the transom becomes a low pressure area and will naturally pull the vapors out of the bilge with the boat in motion. Looking at how your boat is...

Volvo Penta 5.7 GS with closed cooling system

On these usually the system is a half system where only the engine is on the closed system and the manifolds and elbows are all raw water cooled. So you’d have to drain the heat exchanger, manifolds, & raw water intake hose. There is a water drain on the pivot housing (the part that the drive is...

    Volvo DP leak.....HELP

And if you ran the boat on the water hose on land if it were the exhaust Y you’d likely get warm water in the bilge. Ask Rick on the Bayliner owners board he’s a real expert on these drives. It’s a general problem with all I/Os, too many places to leak water.

OMC Chevy 5.7 just cuts out.

Sure thing, well the only other thing it could have is the Prestolite BID (electronic) which has a module there instead of the points & condenser. If its really a '92 then I don't think it came with a points distributor unless someone changed that along the way...because maybe the module failed...

Overhauling my 1988 MerCruiser 4.3 ltr. engine

OK now this is bugging me. For the intake (keep in mind this is the Pre-Vortec) on that Merc manual stuff from Nola Mike it says 40 ft lbs but in my OMC shop manual for the same engine it says 30 ft lbs. Both can't be right! I torqued mine to 30 ft lbs.

Overhauling my 1988 MerCruiser 4.3 ltr. engine

No sealant on the HGs, I used Fel/Pro marine HGs on mine, on each side there should be 2 dowels sticking out of the block to hold the HG in place and help line up the head to the block. A few tips, make sure that you run a thread chaser through the block cyl head bolt threads, you want to also...

    Oil change could be easier...

I think I paid $45 for for this like 15 years ago. Works great on all kinds of things esp lawn engines that are a mess to drain.

    Mercruiser 6.2L MPI overheating

Volvo Penta Overheat Diagnosis - [PDF Document] (documents.pub) Yes I had that problem once, in 2004, it was fixed for the 2005 season and never had it again, every year the gear oil looks the same as it did going in. So yes that can happen, its possible that the seal was improved, but as I...

    1995 OMC 5.0L Winterizing

You can just drain that’s what people did for decades. The OMC shop manual owners/operator manuals that I have do both list adding AF. I do it because of all salt water use but it’s always been a point of debate First page is from owners/operators manual next 2 is from shop manual; I do it the...

    Mercruiser 6.2L MPI overheating

Then explain why I have not had to get it resealed in 15 years? Keep in mind this boat is far from a trailer queen it sits in the brine for 6 months each year. When a Bravo or Volvo is on plane the raw water intake hose is above the static water line level, any air leaks and yes they can pull...

OMC Chevy 5.7 just cuts out.

What ignition system does this engine have? The older models like mine had a simple points & condenser distributor with centrifugal advance. I looked up the engine on a parts website and it looks like you have the Prestolite BID system, the modules for these are NLA, but you can either replace...

    Mercruiser 6.2L MPI overheating

agreed on using heat for the problem with the screw....might want to heat the area round it and then freeze the screw, the temperature difference might break it free. Then in the future, any bolts, or screws that go into a transom assembly or outdrive, coat the threads with either Evinrude...

    Mercruiser 6.2L MPI overheating

This is mainly a Merc issue that is exacerbated by having the impeller up on the engine. It can also happen on Volvos and Cobras because there is a plastic water nipple in the pivot housing (bell housing) that can crack if the boat is not properly winterized. It seems like you have less...
