Gotta run new brakes lines - suggestions?

No Title Like this: I have a Tie Down 66 and its very easy to pump it with a screwdriver to bleed. Just keep the bleeder higher than the level of the brakes, or master cyl to get all the air bubbles out.

OMC 4.3 MANFOLDS. STILL RUNNING HOT

http://www.crowleymarine.com/johnson...cfm?mdl=KK1PPB water tube gaskets part # 75, part 76 is a plastic guide that guides the water tube into the lower gasket. Only other things are a clog in the power steering cooler, you should back flush the hose from the transom mount at the thermo housing...

    Volvo penta vs. mercruiser

No Title here you go 15 years salt water mooring.... 2 bellows, one gimble bearing, 3 sets of exhaust manifolds, 2 carb rebuilds, a few seal replacements, no internal drive repairs at all, no need to change shift cable, still has drag within OMC specs, shifts with 2 fingers.

Volvo Penta 5.7 GL Drive will not come off

smear this stuff on the mating surface for the drive & pivot housing and anywhere you see corrosion, then next time it will be easier. Also coat the splines on your driveshaft with this as well....

Would like opinion on the condition of the exhaust elbow Mercruiser 3.0

Agreed with those above, it looks good, but we can't see the actual sealing surface, is it pitted and rusted, or will it clean up flat? One of your cooling outlets looked clogged also.

    Prop Shaft Lubricant identification

Ahh fresh water guys.....normal wheel bearing grease.....will NOT cut it for 6 months in salt water. Been there and doing this 15 years. What you want, is the magical Evinrude blue snot otherwise known as Evinrude Triple Guard Grease. This stuff will be on the prop shaft when you remove the...

OMC COBRA 4.3. BURNING MY HOSES. GETTING HOT

OK last post on this subject....here is the OMC impeller mount so you can see what I'm talking about with the water flow....

OMC COBRA 4.3. BURNING MY HOSES. GETTING HOT

Here is your pic, and how to get these off, once you slide the hose down, very easy. If the hoses will not come off the aluminum coupler, get a small screwdriver and pry around where it fits on the coupler. You may have to replace these hoses anyway because they are probably scorched. When you...

got some questions on 4.3 repair or replacement.....

Hello iboaters, Well my old '88 4.3 finally acted up in a big way. Its been in salt water raw water cooled for at least 15 years. I'm posting this here even though mine is an OMC boat because you get more traffic here, lol. What happened was this: difficult starting, rough running and after some...

    Trailer Refurbishment . . .

    New bellows

It used to be that Volvo and OMC used the same exact bellows for the Cobra and Volvo SX drives. I just changed my Cobra bellows this spring and its the same OE part as always, the thick rubber original style. I have found that these bellows last a long time as long as you can store the boat with...

is a four winns horizon 200, yr 2000 a good boat?

Here are some pix of the resto, you can see in the pic of the old deck the rot plainly started around the holes for the pedestal mount. This was done between 2005-2006 was finished in 2007.

Closed Cooling System on Port Engine Running Hot(ter)

And in the end, we come to a shell, which as some of us pointed out way back in the beginning is one of the inherent advantages of outboards in salt water, they tilt up, so nasty stuff does not grow outside, or INSIDE! lol. It took me a little while to rig up a way to separate an upper and lower...

Oh no not another oil thread...Merc 25/40 Vis Delo 40

I ran a couple of oil analyses over the past few years comparing the Delo straight weight I used for years and the Merc 25/40 that is specifically blended for inboard marine use. The Delo 40 was done during the 2011season and the Merc was done at the end of this season. Both held up well, the...

Rebuild flat bottom trailer, must be made easier to push boat off, more rollers???

There are 2 domestic manufacturers of roller trailers that I know of in Austrailer, Dunbier and Rolla, try contacting both and see if the sell rollers. http://store.hamiltonmarine.com/brow...FTFp7AodPykAUg how about something like this, they could fit where you have the skids and would not...

    Outdrive screw vanished....is this bad?

No Title The drain/fill screws for the gear oil on a Cobra are on the RIGHT side as you face it, the only ones on the LEFT side are the DO NOT REMOVE screw and the drain for the pivot housing. There are 3 water drains for the pivot housing and they look exactly like the drain fill plugs...

1st big boat and inboard motor 4.3 .unwinterizing boat do I add water to engine

Re: 1st big boat and inboard motor 4.3 .unwinterizing boat do I add water to engine Just checking....did you drain from the bottom, fill from the next plug up near the joint between the upper and lower gear units, with the top dipstick just sitting in the top cover hole to let out air...

    Outdrive Guage inop.

Re: Outdrive Guage inop. These things don't last all that long. There are no more OEM sending units but Sierra makes a replacement (that I have on my boat and actually has outlasted the OE ones). They are difficult to replace because of how the wiring is snaked through the transom mount...

Pulling my DP-SM drive for the first time.

Re: Pulling my DP-SM drive for the first time. I built a wood stand with casters some years back and then I wanted something better so I bought this one from Stumpy's Fab Works, nice piece of work for the price....really makes it easier....

2005 Tahoe Mercruiser 190 HP (oil change info)

Re: 2005 Tahoe Mercruiser 190 HP (oil change info) I use a Topsider vaccum oil pump and do warm up the engine for about 20 min or until the temp gauge reads about 160 or so. Filters I use Sierra, I hope you have reasonably good access, I remove the rear seat on that side and the port side...
