    Price of a new VRO pump may shock you.-----Before spending beer tokens on this motor I would do a compression test.----Post the numbers here.----And does the hose for the tell tale come off the side of the block or off the top of the block ??----And you need to install a new impeller in water...

    too much outboard for the boat?

    The motor that is on there now is about 230 lbs.----If you are going to hang a 500 lb motor on there you need a new transom !!-----Chances of structure under the floor ( stringers ) having survived 50 years or so are not good either.---Some will argue.----This boat needs lots of work to be safe...

    How did it run for you last season ?-----If that is full throttle there is something seriously wrong..---Check flywheel key.-----They all " sound like a new motor " on a hose !---.Means nothing.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on all leads ?-----Did you confirm high speed jets ( orifice plugs )...

    There are check valves in the valve body.-----Need a drag link screwdriver to take them out.------Manual would help you.

    The throttle does NOT need to be open on your 2 stroke motor for a compression test !

    What to do here...

    It might be a good idea to do a full thorough inspection of this motor.-----Compression / bearings / ignition / lower unit electric shift / run the motor.-----Before investing money into a wiring harness.-----Be a shame to spend beer tokens and then find out that the motor is junk.

    Remove some bypass covers on side of the block.----Just 6 bolts each.-----Allows you to look at pistons / rings.

    I would go with a terminal board / strip.----Make your own wiring diagram as per your colors.----The plug in features / connecter is a factory / dealer time saver.----That is easily bypassed.

    If you think the upper seal is an issue, then replace it.----Post another video with the engine idling after a new seal is installed.
