    This recoil assembly is " timed " to take advantage of the eliptical sheave !!-----Do not go changing the length of the roped by guessing.

    The timing tool is nothing but a " dummy flywheel "----You can use the flywheel you have to set points with a meter !----Little extra work , but it can be done.

    Did motor come with warranty ?-----I would start with a compression test.----Post the numbers here.----Are all plug wires on correct cylinder ?

    Points are set to open at the correct time relative to the rotation of the flywheel magnets.----That has to be to generate the spark.----Timing of spark relative to piston TDC is automatic.

    Sorry---That will not work on an E-TEC !!!!------You must stick with the oiling system as designed.

    There is no need to find TDC at all.-----Best to use a meter to set the points if you care to learn.-----Videos on U-tube.

    Does spark jump a gap of at least 1/4", yes or no ?----Reed valves do not get stuck on these motors.---Agreed pull the flywheel and check the coil.----They are often cracked / burned through to magneto plate.

    This particular o-ring is used in many applications including motors in 2011 and even newer.----I should look this # up in an " old time paper " parts book.

    Stop.-----Get the correct o-ring.----It should slide easily onto the bearing.----No o-ring needed on the top bearing.---You are replacing the o-ring inside the carbon ring ( mechanical seal ) I hope ?----Make sure you get the bearings seated on the dowel pins.

    I do not believe the o-ring fits in a groove on the bearing !!----Fits in a groove on the block.

    What percentage of value of motor do you replace? How much to spend on parts motor?

    Why not get into an electric outboard.-----Just need to know how to push a button.-------The EV world is upon us.------But I read an article that EV's may be banned on some ferries in Europe.----Perhaps the tunnels in the mountains will be next.-----These things are an extreme fire hazard.
