    Very hard to make a mistake on this simple shift mechanism.----Pull it out and replace the seal for the shift rod.----Replace o-ring.

    That pump ( vapor pump version ) is listed as no longer available.------I think you can scavenge that broken housing of any one of these little square pumps.-----Used on many small motors up to 25 HP since 1968 or so.----Most shops might have a bin with those used parts.

    Just picked up a 1992 Evinrude 15 HP very clean looking low hrs motor.---Had that outer part of the roller missing.-----Just one scored piston , possibly due to overheating.---Likely find a bad original impeller.-----Easy rebuild here..

    If this boat has an outboard motor was it totally submerged ?------------If so the motor must be looked at and running within a few hrs !!!

    I learned back in 1968 that prop must be turned while shifting most motors.-----I think you still need to adjust the shift rod to correct the shift issue described in post #1 in my opinion.

    You need a new system and cable.------One that attaches to the tilt tube and then comes back to the motor.------Hurry to your local boat shop to get help to select this item.----Simple.

    Simple-----Propeller must be turning when trying to shift this and many other motors.-----Allows clutch dog and gears to engage.-----Look at some pictures of these parts.

    The selectric refers to the shifting.----12 volts to green for neutral.----12 volts to green and blue for reverse.

    There may be issues with crankcase compression.----Perhaps a broken sealing ring on the crankshaft.

    Time to look inside the control box for loose wire or bare wires.----Motor actually sounds pretty good.------But avoid revving it in neutral as that is not good for bearings and such.

    Oil should not be leaking like that.----Unless it was given a healthy dose of fogging oil.-----Do a compression test on this machine before you spend any beer tokens on it.----Check gear box oil.

    Well ----I do not think the brass jets wear out.----But some folks are desperate for a story when motor does not run properly.

    If the pump works fine then you must have crankcase pressure developing.-----Strange that you would have no vacuum.-----There is a possibility that the cylinder sleeve has rotated.-----Instead of jumping up and down around the boat pulling your hair out, pull the cylinder head.----Inspect...

    If the pulse line to the pump was fully OPEN you would have issues with air getting pulled in through the BOTTOM carburetor.
