    Well # 17 is the o-ring. and 27 is the propshaft seal.-----Pressure test the gearcase to find leaks.

    These units are expensive.-----Working on a 150 FHL case ( $25 invested initially ) for myself.------$6675 to buy it new.----Working on another one , regular 150 / 175 HP that stripped the gears as well.----These units are not as good as previous V-6 cases, in my opinion.

    I do not believe those gearcases with the 2 screws / tabs are as durable as earlier designs.-----Agreed , check the gear oil first.-----If oil is good then remove the cylinder head.

    Fuel consumption on a 2 stroke can be confusing.----The little bit of testing I did suggested 3500 / 3600 RPM was most economical on the boat I had.----Light weight 16' fiberglass ski boat with 100 HP V-4.

    I doubt that 305123 is leaking.------Pressure test the gearcase to find leaks if there are any.----Very important to maintain the lower unit as parts / service are expensive !!

    The performance is so bad that it almost sounds like the trailer is still strapped under this boat.-----Sorry I have seen the cartoons.------Something is seriously wrong with this boat or motor !----Hurry to a friendly boat shop / dealer.

    Well-----Sounds to me that dealer never set it up correctly.------I remember boating years ago------17' deep V hull with 100 HP 1966 Johnson.-----3 people in the boat.-----2 people on slalom skis and that boat would pull them up and out of the water.-----Go at 30 MPH with the 2 skiers...

    Have seen these PLASTIC , junk tanks cracked.----Sad that replacement plastic parts are not available.-----A problem today and an even bigger issue in the future for those that will be running gasoline powered outboards.----Perhaps E-bay has a listing for one.

    You either have the wrong prop or there is something wrong with the motor.----Or there is something wrong with the boat !!----Or too high a pitch on the prop.-----Note----By going to a lower pitch prop you will NOT LOSE TOP END SPEED , do some prop research here.

    They marketed the 4 cylinder 2+2 for quite a few years.-------If there was something wrong it would have had a 2 or 3 year production run.-----But the selling / installing dealer needs to be aware of this motor.-----Perhaps not the correct motor for say a pontoon boat where owner might select...
