    The 90 is heavier than a 1975 model 85 HP Evinrude.-----The 90 HP is also prop rated.

    Good job.----Run the motor at 50:1 mix.----Run at 43:1 if you want it to last a few years longer.

    Same parts all over the motors , with different color paint and cosmetics on the cowling.----Something to do with MARKETING as it was in the 1950's ---1960's ---1970's-----Not the same as it is today !!

    Really-------That model # has a 4 after the 115 and that means 1974.-------The 93 has absolutely nothing to do with the year.------Those wee metal tags were not used in 1993 either.

    The early triples had issues with piston skirts breaking.---Solve with installation of those thick walled pistons.--They were an impressive performing motor.

    The materials used in many motors is ---" not the same " ---as it was in years gone by.---That includes the small ones.

    That would be the center MAIN bearing.----It is not a sealing ring.

    These engines and the crankcase joint are precision stuff !!----It is in fact a metal to metal joint.----Has to be , to properly clamp up the bearings.----The sealer has to be " low filler content " and most if not all should squeeze out.-----I dare say on a new assembly you do not need...

    I always use about a 1/8th bead of sealer.----Factory gel seal or loctite 518.----Never a problem.

    He states it was " picked " off a video.----I am not sure how you could get a gap that big on a V-4 crankcase.-----Unless it was molested when taken apart.----Since the high and low speed mixtures are fixed you need to fix / address the combustion in the crankcase I say.

    I am not sure if I would let / allow a motor like that to be put in the back of my truck.----Even if it was free.----Looks like lots of broken / replaced bolts on the water cover already.----Salt water junk I say.

    If you can see " combustion " at the joint you have some problems that need to be looked at.

    Only difference between the 2 motors is paint color and cosmetics / decals.----The Johnson would have been a greenish color.----Posting pictures of powerhead might help

    Well----I think 12 volts to the powerpack when cranking is used on the optical ignition ( 60 degree ) models only.----Correct me if wrong.

    The wrong propeller ( lugging ) the motor would cause that type of damage.

    So does the detent not work ?----I do not believe you can see the detent ball and spring when it is assembled.
