    How did you confirm that flywheel key is OK ???-----Is the flywheel nut torqued to 102.5 FT-LBS at this moment ?----I always encourage owners of these motors to do a compression test for future reference.------Post your numbers.

    Serial # of this motor ?---Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on all leads ?-----Run with timing light hooked up.----See what happens to spark when motor falters.

    They are 1/4-20.----Flywheel hubs are stretched over the crankshaft taper.----They do not come off easily.----The right technique must be used.

    Sounds like an 84 model .----A 3.500" bore V-6 marketed as 150 / 175 / 200 HP outboard.-----What is the number stamped on a high speed carburetor jet ?

    There is a spot on the intake manifold just in front of the starter for a conventional pump.-----The pump mounts there with 2 screws and a gasket.-----Just needs a hoses for fuel in and fuel out.---Remove pulse limiter and plug that pressure port.------But other folks work to different standards...

    One reason why I am not using any WOOD in my project boat.---All composite materials being used.---Carbon fiber / kevlar / foam core / West system Epoxy.---Takes longer and materials cost more coins.----But the results are " priceless " as they say.

    ???----The balls in the propeller shaft are for NEUTRAL only mate !!------They ensure that some effort is required and helps avoid folks from easing these motor into gear.-----Easing them into gear does all the damage.

    Did you install a new water pump impeller ?-----Tested the overheat horn if equipped with that ?

    The parts are all factory except for the screw in the end.----People start guessing as to what is wrong with a motor.----The ---" lets try this " approach does not always work !

    A new powerpack will usually solve this.----If not you will have a good spare.

    Test run with another tank and hose.------Test run with a timing light to see if spark returns on one cylinder when motor RPM goes up.

    That change in compression needs to be investigated.-----Remove bypass cover/s to look at pistons and rings.----That style of reeds was used on Mercury motors since the early years ( late 1940's and 1950's ) and are quite reliable.----And reed valves have nothing to do with compression in the...

    That grease gun trick only works on a 2 strokes if piston and rings are closing off the ports.
