Is 2oz of Marine Tex enough?

If I have to fill little cracks and 1 small gouge(3 inch by 1/4" thick on the gelcoat) could a 2oz package work? I am just trying to figure out how much Marine Tex to order... BTW, is the process of putting it on straightforward, or do I need some iBoat wisdom to do it right? Any tips?

    Where would you go if.....

If you were going to buy all your boating maintenance/springtime stuff at one store, where would you buy from? I am talking about anything from spark plugs to hull cleaner, trim fluid, lower unit oil, seafoam(or some other cleaner/stabilizer), fiberglass filler, buffing/polish, light oil...

6 month old mixed gas 85hp JOhnson

The last time I fired up my engine was about 6 months ago. I've got roughly 3 gallons left, and there was ALOT of pressure in the tank when I took off the cap. I did not add any stabilizer when I put it up for the winter. My question is, would it be dangerous at 6 months to use the gas...

How to seal drain plug sleeve?

Hello y'all. :facepalm:Last fall I forgot to pull the plug and after a month or so when I pulled it of course there was water in the boat, and when I puled it the sleeve that's mounted to the hull started to come out with it. I slid it back in, but I am a little nervous to take it out until I...

Sludge in the bilge area, best way to soak up?

I have a small pool of cludge, looks like oil and gas in the bilge area of my 1978 Chrysler Bass Runner. (outboard of course) The previous owner had removed an under the deck gas tank and I believe it may have been leaking and that's where the sludge came from. My question is, what should I...

broke the Tilt N' Trim Switch...

...on my 1978 Johnson 85hp. I am talking about the switch on the control arm, at the thumb position. the "down" still works fine, but the "up" does not. I believe I pushed it in too far out of frustration and broke something. I still have a working switch on the bow, but that won't...

Anyone have a love affair with 1978 Chrysler Bass Runners?

...just thought I would throw this out there, since all my attempts including the Chrysler Crew(fantastic folks!!!) to find people who like these boats have been feeble.:( So I am just interested to see if any of you are fans of this boat! If not, why?

Trolling motor size for my 16' 1978 Chrysler?

I am getting ready to purchase a new trolling motor for my 16' 1978 Chrysler Bass Runner 85. I have an old electric 24v motor that barely pushes me along, in calm water with no wind. (it is cool looking though for us dudes who like the classics- it's a 1979 Evinrude Scout) I am thinking...

1978 Chrysler Bass Runner 85 trihull -finding out this thing is pretty rare!

I bought this boat in August, and have taken it out multiple times. The previous owner did alot of work to the thing, and I have done quite a bit myself. By the way, I am running a 1978 85hp Johnson Javelin Sea Horse. I am getting ready to replace some O rings on the trim n' tilt and change...

1978 85hp Johnson (Javelin) Trim N' Tilt issue

I have read in many other threads that if I hear the trim and tilt motor running but the outboard is not going up or down, it's a hydraulic fluid issue most likely. This is my problem. I can hear the motor running, but the engine will not move up or down. To complicate it, I think I might...

85 HP Javelin outboard throttle issue

I have an 85 HP Javelin outboard I just bought and it runs awesome. The only issue is when I throttle up, then back off, the arm that the throttle cable attaches to in the engine doesn't back off all the way, so the RPMs are way too high. I can manually push the arm the rest of the way back...
