Places the lapping compound and torqued the flywheel to the proper 45 lb/fr spec. She fired right up and ran well in my barrel. I moved it up higher with a board: that weird shift handle thing seems to have gone away. Now to set the timing. She’s idling a little higher than I’d like

I’ve done nothing to it at this point. Waiting on my woodruff keys to come in. I’ll use that lapping compound like you suggested.

This thread has a lot going on. Im going to recap here 1. I am still unsure why original post happened. The vibrating shift handle. I replaced the head cylinder assembly and head gasket because the spark bottom spark plug hole wouldn’t hold a spark plug. The vibrating started after. 2. Mixed...

    Have you ever seen this?

You are correct. I know very little about the outboard. I did some diagnostic tests and digging last night. 115/120 compression No spark-woodruff key is sheared. I was thinking motor going in and out of gear like that might be related to being run in a barrel. I took it to the local lake. It...

    Have you ever seen this?

Well I lost Spark in both cylinders. I’ll take flywheel off more to inspect. Here is a new one….my test barrel is full of 2 stroke. I left my motor in the rest barrel lSt night and I’d say 2 if my 6 gallons of gas are gone. Never seen this. No idea why it happened. I leave like this often.

I read about them breaking in, but I could be mistaken (new repair for me) spark plugs are new and look good. I’m going to check my spark this evening. I’ll report back when sun goes down much easier to see

Would you happen to know torque setting for head bolts? I’ve read multiple places 96-120 in/lb. I did 120 I’m a circular pattern

    Have you ever seen this?

I’m trying to dial in the low speed idle and give my new head gasket some time to break in. I put the motor in gear at a very low speed and saw it doing this. I don’t even know what to call it or what caused it. It’s like going in and out of gear.

Fuel Pump I'm still suspecting as the most likely cause since the fuel lines seems to be lined up properly. The fuel pump does have fuel flowing through it. I have those clear fuel lines and can see gas getting where it needs to go. It will pump up good and hold firm for a strong start. Bulb...
