    Mercruiser 6.2 whining noise

Yep, that sounds identical to the noise I’m talking about. Hopefully, it’s normal. I came from the world of outboards, so lots of new things for me to learn about with this engine.

    Mercruiser 6.2 whining noise

Thanks alldodge. It’s a consistent noise, maybe a better way to describe it would higher-pitched hum or whirring noise, instead of whining. Anyhow, if fuel pump, do they tend to make this type of noise normally? If you listen to the video, are you hearing the fuel pump?

    Mercruiser 6.2 whining noise

Started my boat for the first time this year. Bought it late last year, so still getting familiar with it. Noticed a whining noise on the port side of the engine. As I got closer, almost seemed like near the back and/or under the engine, but not positive. See video. The alternator, which is on...

    Sea water pump

Update: I rented a puller from Autozone, and got everything apart. Bearings were definitely shot, so I've ordered the rebuild kit and the bearing shaft assembly. Just a couple more questions below I won't be firing up the engine for another couple of months, so just want to make sure there's no...

    Sea water pump

Ok, thanks again, alldodge. I tried to remove the pulley today with a neighbor who has all sorts of auto tools. His pulley tool clipped at 3 points around the outside, but we weren't able to get the pulley to budge at all. Is there a special puller needed, like the one that grips around center...

    Sea water pump

I haven't had a chance to pull apart the pump yet, but in the meantime, I am having trouble finding a kit that contains an inner wear plate. Alldodge, the Hardin link you posted said that kit is not for the OEM pumps, which is what I have. Also, since I need an inner wear plate, I assume...

    Sea water pump

Great. Thanks again. Very glad I decide to tackle while ice is still on the lakes

    Sea water pump

Ok, thanks. I found this step-by-step tutorial on rebuilding it, so it looks like I can follow it. http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/rebuilding-the-late-model-mercruiser-raw-water-pump.72821/

    Sea water pump

I just removed my sea water pump to replace the impeller. First time doing this, in general. I have a couple of questions. My housing is metal. The rings on the inside look machined to me, but just want to make sure there's no visible issues with the housing before reassembly. Also, the seal...

    Battery switch question

Thanks for the responses. I may do something simple, like you suggested, Krazehorse. The current location in the engine compartment is not easy to reach, so even relocating closer to the front of the hatch would help.

    Battery switch question

Thanks. I did a quick search on ACRs. Do you keep your switch on "ALL", so you don't have to worry about switching to play the stereo when anchored?

    Battery switch question

This is my first boat with a battery switch, so I don't have much experience with them. I understand how they work, but I do find it annoying that I need to open my engine compartment to switch from 1 to 2, etc. Does the switch have to be in the engine compartment? Would be great to have this...

    Bravo 1 anode kit

That’s what I was thinking too. Thanks for confirming!

    Bravo 1 anode kit

I boat in freshwater only, and need to replace my anodes this offseason. There's wide variance in prices for these magnesium kits. There's a kit from amazon and boat zincs for around $47. https://www.amazon.com/Mercruiser-Bravo-Magnesium-Anode-Fresh/dp/B01CLKE6S8 Then, other some other places...

'03 Mercruiser 6.2 MPI 3 point drain system

Thank you. Yes, forgot to mention I opened the manifolds too. Will get the fuel pump and PS cooler done. Thanks for your help! And no, don't like that hypercomplex tubing at all, unless it was foolprooth. Can't even see where it all goes, or what I'll need to do to make everything operational...

'03 Mercruiser 6.2 MPI 3 point drain system

This engine has the 3 point drain system, which I haven't had before, but also am not fond of based on what I've been reading on how they can plug up. Planning to remove that in the future, but for now, I need to winterize with it on. I've already drained the 3 point system, lots of water came...

    Remote oil lines

One of the oil lines on my ‘03 Mercruiser 6.2 is leaking. Part is on a back order and will take a few weeks to arrive. I’m thinking of taking off both lines and bringing them to a hydraulic hose shop, to have them repaired with new hoses. Is there anything special I need to let them know? The...

    Bow roller position wrong

New-to-me boat. PO kept it in a boathouse, so trailer never got used. It does not appear that the position of the bow roller bracket is set up correctly. I tighten it as much as I can, but then the strap hook gets in the way of the bow roller. Seem like the bracket should be higher. Strange...

    Strange trailer set up

Was looking at this boat, and I've never seen a trailer set up this way. Looks like it's for a different hull. Just thinking I would need to change the bunk set up, if I bought the boat. Not sure what that would entail cost-wise, but thought I'd get some opinions on this trailer here. Thanks...
