    I would also consider contacting the customer service number of the folks that make whatever rubber coating you choose. They might be able to recommend something to use as a waterproofing primer. I'd be curious if they recommend epoxy. Epoxy stick to everything, but not everything sticks to epoxy.

    Correct, that is the iBoats shorthand for thickened resin. When done with polyester resin, it normally includes catalyzed resin, Cabosil (fumed silica), and milled fiberglass strands. The ideal consistency is like peanut butter.

    With that much area on the surface of the stringers, PB would probably be sufficient. My boat also has fiberglass stringers, and from the factory, the deck was installed with PB and long staples. When I replaced it, I used PB and stainless steel screws.

    You will be fine with BCX. If you're really worried about strength, just give it a extra layer of fiberglass. I'd hazard a guess that the major of us who have rebuilt our boats used regular exterior plywood rather than marine plywood. Exterior plywood seems to work fine.
